for an equivalent in goods or money. The subjects of transportation on a
route, as persons or goods; the passing to and fro of persons, animals,
vehicles, along a route of transportation, as along a street, highway, etc.
A free and public roadway, or street; one which every person
has the right to use. ... Its prime essentials are the right of common
enjoyment on the one hand and the duty of public maintenance on the other.
The appearance or semblance without the substance, of legal right. Misuse
of power, possessed by virtue of state law and made possible only because
wrongdoer is clothed with authority of state, is action taken under "color of
law."
The appearance, semblance, or simulacrum of title. Also termed "apparent
title." ...That which is a semblance or appearance of title, but is not
title in fact or in law.
