NOTICE: This RadiOak page is not current. This is the RadiOak 96/97 page. To Oakradio members and alumni.
This is where it all began.
Oakradio, or "Radioak" has become a springboard for aspiring radio jocks to be, and Oakradio Alumni are getting jobs in radio.
Nothing brings me better joy, than to see a program that I created, get handed down generation to generation, and inspire students to pursue broadcasting as a career choice. Oakradio was my baby, and to this day, it is still running strong, and has evolved into a very professional and impressive program, and I am overjoyed to see the program in such good hands.
My Best,
Matt McNeil.

1997:
By taking over OAKRADIO, I have increased my iron grip upon Oakridge!! *maniacal laughter* My new position as OAKRADIO DICTATOR...oops..I mean....DIRECTOR...has given the school announcement/morning music program the chance to grow and become something more. Oakradio now simulates a radio station, with the same kind of studio equipment, a similar broadcasting/news format, authentic signature music and a full lineup of Oakradio Morning DJ's. (Below: Myself and Bob (assistant director/sports director) -Click on picture to view full size-)

Oakradio began in 1994, during my Sophomore year at Oakridge.
At that time the program consisted of 3 components:
1) A DJ.

2) A London Board of Ed. standard issue tape recorder.

3)A PA Microphone.

Music was transmitted as it is now, over the school's PA system, however, this was achieved simply by placing the microphone over the speaker of the tape player.

This method of Oakradio, which was called "Announcement Club" at that time, was rather simple....and rather pathetic I must add. During my Grade 11 year,The Announcement Club was re-named and Oakradio was born. Along with this name change came a huge face-lift for the fledgling radio program.
After meeting with the Design and Technology department, Oakradio was given permission to use the Audio suite and the production studio in the mornings for music and announcements.
Oakradio delivers diverse music,a news program and now I have expanded Oakradio as of April 9th 1997, to include a music program during 3rd lunch in the cafeteria.
