St Kilda East.I felt a little better last week, a little stronger, a little braver. I'm still buffeted by the world out there. But I'm working through it.
Can't you tell I've spent time in therapy?
Through no fault or success of my own the PC and its assorted paraphenalia has been re-housed in the study. Where it belongs. It was previously in residence in the lounge-room, where I was not able to concentrate or surf for any great length. I noticed when I updated my "Batch book", that for the time that the PC lived in the lounge I didn't post regularly, and my time spent on-line had decreased dramatically. During that time I often felt a sense of wanting to be "on-the-internet", but the distractions of television, music, people, conversations etc meant that I couldn't adequately do the things I needed to do. I feel a lot calmer now that I know she's back in here, where I can get a little privacy; retreat here if you will, and write entries.
It really is a means of winding down for the day. I used to write an entry each night before bed, and if I didn't then I'd surf, or tweek my pages or something. For the three 1/2 months she was stuck out there I didn't do a thing.
I'm glad we're back in here. We have an old box-spring mattress leaning up against the wall to the left of me, and the Zee has taken to sitting atop the mattress (some six feet in the air), all folded up and contented, keeping a watch over me as I tinker.
The study (spare bedroom) is all crowded and full of stuff. I tend to hoard things, while Scott is a lot neater and more able to part with things. Paradoxically, whilst I hoard and create nests of stuff everywhere, I like the living areas of the apartment to be neat and clutter free, tidy and all smooth surfaces. So I have the study to pile all my stuff in, and at the moment with the PC and its tiered desk, a filing cabinet, bookshelf, tallboy drawers, a large bankers desk, the mattress against the wall, and other stuff all over, it's like a cocoon in here. I love it.
Re: us seeing Chasing Amy a couple of weeks ago, we hired "Mallrats" from the video store. We had seen Clerks, yonks ago, and thought it was good, loved Chasing Amy, but had heard NOT ONE thing good about Mallrats. Personally I thought it was better than Clerks. (Are us Australians the only ones who say Clarks?) I laughed my ass off. It brought back so many memories of high school, and doing all that stuff. I really enjoyed it!
