Get What You Want

I've been thinking over the past couple of days how, if you put your mind to it, you can get what you want. I often find that when things are really going well for me it's due to a combination of things, but ever present is a want, or desire, or an intention to get something. The convergance of maintaining a level of treating myself and others well, being part of an environment where I feel useful and fulfilled, and wanting something.

I think it is the focus of knowing what you want, and a mindset and shift in approach that allows you to get it.

I shy away from calling it a goal or an achievement. Because usually I don't do anything, I just want something that is realistic, keep it ever present in the back of my mind, and let things happen. For me this seems to work, and I frequently do end up getting what I want.

I'm not talking about material objects or revenge or wins in a raffle, but things like getting a job that I want, making sure that I am considered, that I appear in the best light, that because of my mindset all of the necessary factors are in place and functioning so that when the time comes I am all prepared and prompted, so I can just go forth and claim that which I wanted.

This all sounds a little airy fairy, and recording it here now it sounds even more so. Yet when I revealed this to someone I work with, who was struggling with a few life choices and burning wants in her life, it was like a light bulb went on in her head, and she later emailed me with thanks for switching that light on.

I mean this isn't an everyday occurence here, there are long stretches of never getting what I want, of feeling opressed and depressed and just a general drought in the having wants met department.

I just remember that famous line, "You can't always get what you want, but you always get what you need" Thanks Mr Jagger.
