CFHL POWER RANKING

Gentleman, we are proud to announce our 3rd power ranking. We used a new ranking method, analyzing the team's record
since our last edition. With that in mind, I saved it in an Excel sheet, those records, and also goals scored and goals allowed,
so that I'd have a bit more data to write about.

That is why the biggest gain of this edition of Power Ranking belongs to the Minnesota Wild, climbing a surprising 16 slots
due to a 12-7-2 record. Dallas and Buffalo also made big jumps while the San Jose Sharks and the Washington Capitals
managed to big slips in this ranking. But the biggest loss of this edition of Power Ranking belongs to the New York
Rangers
, dropping 17 slots thanks to a big slump... a 5-11-3 record.

1 (4) Montreal 44-19-6
15-4-1
Maybe the rent-a-player philosophy works. Management showed their players they want to win and the players show the management they are capable of that by scoring a league high 4.20 goals/game average in the last 20 games.
2 (3) Tampa Bay 48-18-3
16-4-1
Khabibulin and Denis are showing everyone that this team is not all about offense. You gotta have great goaltending if you want to win the Cup.
3 (5) St. Louis 47 18 4
16 4 1
It wasn't a joke. They are serious about all that talk of dinasty and defending the title.
4 (2) Phoenix 48 16 6
14 4 3
We are beginning to think that Aaron Miller makes the Coyotes weaker. By himself. Somehow. We don't know. Prediction: they will fail to win the Cup and will ship Miller out of town, yet again.
5 (6) New Jersey 45 20 4
14 5 0
Risky deal gets Fleury to New Jersey. So far, so good. He is providing the goals they wanted him to produce.
6 (1) Detroit 46 19 5
14 8 0
Face it. They can smoke anyone in the league ... when they're in the mood.
7 (18) Chicago 32 29 8
11 6 4
Yes, those are the Canucks breathing down your necks in the standings. They are not better than you guys anymore.
8 (8) Calgary 41 22 7
11 6 4
Jagr takes the lead in the Art Ross Trophy race and shows no sign of letting it escape.
9 (25) Minnesota 24 35 10
12 7 2
No one would have thought, but Walz and Laaksonen are the Wild's MVPs this season.
10 (13) Boston 35 29 7
12 10 1
With the addition of Keith Tkachuk, their offense had a boost and had the 2nd highest average in the last 21 games and one of only two that averaged more than 4 goals/game.
11 (7) Colorado 37 23 9
10 8 3
Who needs Mario Lemieux, Marian Hossa, Peter Bondra, Brian Leetch and Brian Rafalski when you've got Craig Conroy????
12 (11) Pittsburgh 35 27 7
9 8 4
Eric Cairns, +17, is helping the Penguins' campaign very silently but very efficiently.
13 (19) Ottawa 29 33 8
10 10 2
Lindros isn't leading the league in points anymore but as long as he keeps scoring goals, wins the Richard Trophy and secure that 8th seed in the East, he will forget about the Art Ross.
14 (29) Dallas 19 47 4
9 11 2
First, we thought getting Primeau was a good deal for them. Then, we thought it was odd that they didn't re-sign him but now we just don't know why they kept him. Not like he will help them out in the playoffs. First, you have got to be in contention to play it.
15 (22) Los Angeles 26 38 5
9 11 1
Sami Kapanen is the only Kings player that deserves to be in the playoffs.
16 (14) Vancouver 29 27 12
8 10 3
It looks like Markus Naslund was the heart, the soul and the MVP of this team. Montreal isn't complaining though.
17 (30) Buffallo 17 48 6
9 13 1
Yup. Your eyes are working just fine. The Sabres managed to leave the 30th spot for the first time and they made a huge jump to #17 thanks to some good goaltending by Richter.
18 (9) San Jose 36 23 9
7 9 4
This will probably be Selanne and Damphousse's last season with the Sharks. Who will get them in the offseason??
19 (23) Nashville 28 40 1
9 12 0
Do you know who was the QMJHL's scoring leader? It's one of the Predators prospect, a guy named Joel Perrault.
20 (21) NY Isles 25 37 7
8 11 2
Thank God they do not have Mike Milbury in NY. You don't want to have a Milbury tirade when you are trading well, building for the future with talented prospects.
21 (26) Columbus 21 42 7
7 8 3
Rucchin and Dunham stayed in town and along with McEachern(8 game point streak), Erat and Czerkawski (5 game goal scoring streak) are doing some damage around the league.
22 (17) Toronto 27 34 9
7 12 3
The Leafs' defense is their weak point. If they play their A game every night, they will have good chances to reach the playoffs though.
23 (15) Florida 29 33 7
7 10 2
Do not mention freak accidents in front of GM Jay Krawchuk or to Jochen Hecht anytime soon.
24 (16) Philadelphia

30 34 4
7 11 2

Having the 2nd worst goals scored average in the last 21games (1.85 goals/game) won't help them reach the playoffs.
25 (12) Washington 33 35 4
8 15 0
They are now under .500 and allowed everyone to look at the 7th seed and dream. It's a 5 team race and only 2 of them will make it.
26 (24) Carolina 19 38 12
7 14 0
Anyone else notice that Roman Simicek leads the team in goals?
27 (10) NY Rangers 31 28 10
5 11 3
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Somehow we jinxed them again. Sorry boys! Better start winning some games before they get to the playoffs or else the morale is gone.
28 (28) Atlanta 21 46 3
6 15 1
GM Nick Nappi is beginning to build a solid franchise for the future. Fans are ansious to see what he will do with Lucky Luc and head coach Brian Sutter in the offseason.
29 (20) Anaheim 25 37 6
5 13 2
Positive note: they signed JS Giguere and Sykora to new multi year contracts. Negative note: If they play like this next year, they are doomed. And the Angels won't let Rally Monkey help them.
30 (27) Edmonton 15 47 8
3 15 3
Only 3 wins and a league worse 1.67 goals scored/game and 3.95 goals allowed/game during that span. This was enough to grab this place from the Buffalo Sabres, who was here in the last 2 times.
