Clarksville is located 60 miles East of Ft. Smith and 100 miles Northwest of Little Rock on Interstate 40.
5,833 people live in the city (U.S. Census, 1990) and 18,221 people in Johnson County (U.S. Census, 1990).

Clarksville has a long history of being known for its peach orchards.

The Johnson County Peach Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the state of Arkansas. The first festival was held in 1938, in the midst of peach orchards in the area now known as Ludwig.

UNIVERSITY OF THE OZARKS

University of the Ozarks (formally College of the Ozarks), is a four year liberal arts institution. U of O is the oldest college west of the Mississippi.

Raymond Munger Memorial Chapel

The chapel is a two-story church designed in the collegiate Gothic Style. It was constructed in 1932 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

W.L. Hurie Building

The 1924 Science Hall on the U of O campus is a brick masonry structure designed in a stylized Classical Revival style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
