Playing With Snap Beads
Children can snap them together and pull them apart, sort them hy color before snapping them toghether, start color patterns by snapping several beads together, count the number of beads they snap together before they pull them apart.
Tearing Paper
Let children tear pages cut from newspapers, magzines and catalogs. Let them tear papers that have different patterns and textures, such as wrapping paper, aluminum foil, waxed paper and paper towels, usea the pieces in making collages.
Cutting Paper
Give each child a pair of blunt scissors and a strip of paper about one inch wide. Show children how to hold and manipulate their scissors. Then let them practice snipping their paper strips into small peices.
Box Stack
Give children small boxes of different sized boxes to stack. They will also enjoy putting objects in the boxes.
Stack Blocks
Children can stack blocks to build block towers.
Stringing Beads
Show the children how to string beads (1-inch or larger) or thread spolls on a sholace or string. (Knot the end of the string so the beads won't fall off.)
Sidewalk Painting
Give the children buckets of water and paint brushes. Show them how to "paint" with the water on the driveway or sidewalk.
Paper Scribble
Tape newspaper to the top of a table- cover the entire table. Give the children crayons, markers, or paint and a paintbrush. Let them have fun scribbling.
