Balance Beam

Set a long piece of wood (a 2 by 4 is a good size for this) on the ground. The children can use this to practice walking on the beam.

Follow the Leader

Let each child have a turn to lead the others on a wild adventure. The leader can jump, walk, skip, hop, crawl, or run. Great activity for deveoping large muscle control.

Forklift

have children lie flat on their backs on the floor. Have them place their arms above their heads on the floor. They should keep thier legs together and lift them up and down just like a forklift.

Hide and Seek

Choose one child to be "it". "It counts very slowly to ten, while the other children hide. The children who hide try to run back to the "free" space where "It" was counting. When a child reaches the free space before being tagged the child is not it. The first child tagged by "It" before getting to the "free" space is the next person to be "It." Set boundries for the children so that they do not get lost.
