Let There Be Peace On Earth

BELOW IS A COLLECTION OF SOME OF MY FAVORITE PROSE AND POETRY. SOME HAS BEEN WRITTEN BY OTHERS AND SOME WRITTEN BY MYSELF. I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THIS VERY SPECIAL WAY OF EXPRESSING MY SENTIMENTS TO YOU.

MY CREED

I have one life in which to live, Upon it will depend Heaven gained or Heaven lost, When I have reached the end. I must be sure to put away Good works for God to view, Nor spend my time in vain pursuit, As men are wont to do.
I must get rid of foolish pride Which plagues me night and day, Bite my tongue before someone Is hurt by words I say. Never grow too fond of all The glitter that I see, Be content with only what The Lord has given me.
I have one life in which to live and God is keeping track, This is my only chance because I won't be coming back. My duty to my fellowman Demands that I must be The understanding friend to him, That God has been to me.
Every day I must observe, As if it is my last, And set my house in order Before the time has passed. So down the road of years I live My solitary creed.... Safe in my love for Jesus, ...Who gives me all I need.

DAYBREAK

The morning light is breaking, Lord Another day is here, Life's problems must again be met, With heart and vision clear.
Strength for today I ask, dear Lord, Strength only for today; Renew my faith, my hope revive, Illuminate my skies of grey.
For yesterday is past, dear Lord, Tomorrow I ne'er may see, Today alone lines in my grasp To use or lose for eternity.
Help me to lend a helping hand, To dry the fallen tears, To give to all whose life touch mine Some comfort or good cheer.
Help me to sink my poor weak self With its longings, hopes and fears, In service to my fellow-man Battling trough this vale of tears.
Just for today-day by day Courage and strength I pray; Garnering the good, forgiving the wrong, Till I've lived my last today.

ENJOY LIFE

Enjoy life, and don't complain because God sends a little rain. The rain will pass and you will see rainbows where clouds used to be. Enjoy life;there is much to do, for every day brings something new. The grass is always sweet and green when you rise above the dull routine. Enjoy life each day that you live, for blessings come to those who give. Share the joy that's in your soul with those who have no worthy goal. Enjoy life both night and day, and watch your sorrows fade away. If you would be a happy man... You'll succeed when you think you can!

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

As I looked out the window tonight, a feeling came over me - a feeling that I had never felt before. The moon was just coming up over the hills, and the limbs on the tree outside my window looked beautiful against the growing darkness of the sky. The snow that had been on the ground had almost melted, however it was turning cold again.

I thought as I looked out my window that God had made this earth for all of us to live in and to share. He had made everything that has ever drawn a breath of fresh of clean air - the farms, with their crops budding in the fields, the cities with everyone hurrying about, the quiet places where we can talk to God in prayer. Everything our eyes can see, our ears can hear, our fingers can touch, God has made.

But I wonder, have we used these gifts as we should?

Have we helped others to realize the beauty of them?

The newspapers are filled with articles about major crimes or about conflicts in foreign countries. The horror of these crimes and conflicts seem to overshadow our appreciation and enjoyment of God's natural gifts.

We need to be more cheerful and share our cheerfulness with others as we walk along the long road of life.

LOOK OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW.

Don't just glance, but look thoughtfully, thinking about the things you see and why they were put here. Resolve then and there to help others to see and appreciate God's gracious gifts.

JUST FOR YOU

Count your garden by the flowers, Never by the leaves that fall; Count your days by sunny hours, Not remembering clouds at all. Count your life with smiles, not tears, And when your life has reached its autumn, Count your age by friends, not years.
