Y2K IS COMING!
ARE YOU PREPARED?
There are many
opinions how the upcoming year 2000 will affect the
many aspects of our lives. With computers controlling
so many things, programers are feverishly trying to
insure the transition into the New Year will occur
smoothly and safely. I have prepared a list of
some possibilities and ways to address them!
Note:This page was created to
provide some helpful hints and in no way suggests or
predicts they will be
needed!
FOOD and WATER!
Having extra food and water on
hand is always a good idea. Depending on the size of
your family, you may want to stock up and have at
least an extra week or two on hand. Don't forget pets
if you have them.

LIGHT!
Should power go out, will you
be able to see in the dark? An extra flashlight or
two with fresh batteries sure would help. Do you have
a rechargable light? Charge it right before the end
of the year. Also, have some candles and matches
ready, should you need them.
FINANCES!
Banks are very secure. If you
are concerned about your finances, get a printout of
all your accounts just before the end of the year.
Having some extra cash on hand would be a good idea
as
well, should you need it.
FUEL!

BR>Visit you local gas station
right before the end of the year and "fill 'er up."
Also, take the gas can you have for the lawn
mower and or snowblower and fill it as well. Do you
use fuel
oil to heat your home.... Kerosene for a portable
heater? Check on these also.
COMMUNICATIONS!
Who knows if the telephones
will be working right after midnight on New Years
Day. With this in mind......
HAVE A PLAN SET
UP!
Do you have an eldely relative
who lives alone? Plan a visit there should
communications be
disrupted.
How about the neighbors?
Make a plan with them as well.

MEDICATIONS!
<
BR>If you have
prescriptions, check the dates and see if you can get
refills just before the end of the year, if need be.
A computer malfunction could jeopardize you, if
refills are not available for
awhile.
VEHICLES!
Get your vehicle
tuned up if need be. Is that battery getting a little
old and weak? How about the anti-freeze and tire
pressures? Somethings to think about.
NEWS AND UPDATES!
Should
power outages occur in your area, a small battery
operated radio will provide you with valuable
information.
EMERGENCY GENERATOR
If you
are
fortunate to have one of these, check it out for
proper operation, should it be
needed.
