| At the last instar, before the caterpillar chooses a perch on which to pupate, the colour of the caterpillar turns a pale yellow. The markings, quite similar to the "purple stage" contrast against the paler base colour of the caterpillar. The filaments are red and black with white tips. In this photo, the caterpillar selects its pupation position and curls up for about a day. |
