The
Malayan Crow is extremely rare in Singapore, having been sighted only a
few times in the nature reserves, and usually at flowering trees, e.g.
Eugenia spp. Although it is an "unattractive" black butterfly
with white spots, it is one of the larger Euploea species (only the King
Crow is larger), attaining a wingspan of up to 130mm.
The species has been successfully
'baited' with the partially dried Heliotropium indicum. This
male specimen was photographed at the Sentosa Butterfly Park. |
