Yellow Submarine Product Information

-Video-
There have been two releases of the Yellow Submarine movie on video here in the United States. The first one was released over a decade ago and did not include the "Hey Bulldog" sequence. The new one was released September 14th, 1999, and has been remastered in film and soundtrack, and it includes the "Hey Bulldog" sequence that was only shown in Britain.

-Album-
Again, there have been two albums. The first Yellow Submarine LP was released back in 1969. It consisted of six Beatles songs while the rest was the background tracks from the movie. With the new release they have remastered the soundtrack and put out a new one that includes all the songs that were on the movie, whether they were from Yellow Submarine, Sgt. Pepper, or Rubber Soul. But the new album doesn't include the background music.

-TeeShirts-
With the new release came other products, including shirts. There have been a surprising amount for just this movie. There are a couple of t-shirts with the Blue Meanies, one I saw had a little Yellow Submarine embroidered on the front. There's also about five different silk screen shirts that can be found, one with the Beatles in their Pepperland gear, one with the Beatles and the yellow sub, another one from a scene in the end with a bunch of the characters..and a couple other I can't remember. They're in the colors of white, orange, blue, purple, yellow, black, and tye-dye!

-Toys-
They have made figurines of the Beatles and a Blue Meanie, Jeremy, the Flying Glove and the Submarine. (Plus *special* Old Fred!) Corgi has released a new version of the old Yellow Submarine toy vehicle that they had made once a long time ago. There are now some model kits of The YS Beatles too. You can put them together and then paint 'em.

-Lava Lamps and etc-
There is also a Yellow Submarine Lava lamp. Mind you they're expensive. And there's also a YS musical water globe with the submarine that plays "Yellow Submarine." A snow globe with the Beatles and Jeremy in the submarine that also plays "Yellow Submarine. There's a Yellow Submarine cookie jar. And there's four YS lunch boxes, one regular size, two mini lunch boxes and one cloth lunch bag. There's a YS lamp and wine glasses. Some foam key chains. A really cool clock that I wish I could get! Some mugs and of course the collector cards.

Word Plays in YS

I am sure there are many people out there who have caught most of the jokes in the Yellow Submarine movie. But me, being 17, it took me a while to find and understand some of them. I'm sure I haven't found them all. But the ones I do know I shall list for people to read, just in case they didn't happen to catch it. If you know of one that I don't have down, E-Mail me and I'll put it up and give you credit! Or send me a msg if you find a mistake. Now onto the funny stuff.

What's Said The Joke
Old Fred: Help! Help! Help!
Ringo: Thanks, we don't need any.
I don't think this needs any explanation
Old Fred: Oh, bless you.
Ringo: Did I sneeze?
No explanation needed here either. But this is probably my favorite joke in the movie.
John: Hey, Ringo, I've just had the strangest dream.
Ringo: I warned you not to eat on an empty stomach.
Usually you do eat when you're stomach is empty.
John: What day is it?
Ringo: Sitarday.
John: Then George will be in here.
Hence the playing of Sitar music when they open the door to George's room
John: Well in my opinion we've become involved in Einstein's time-space continuim (sp?) theory.
George: All right.
John: Relatively speaking that is.
George: Of course
Remember Einsteins theory of relativity?
(not sure exactly who says what in this one)
Hey, there's a cyclops.
Can't be, he's got two eyes.
Must be a bicyclops.
There's another one. Whole cyclopedia.
Amazing what one can do with the word "cyclops"
John: There's a schools of Whales
Ringo: They look a bit old for school
Paul: University then?
Ringo: University of Whales.
University of Wales. Get it? It's a British school
(After escaping from the Injuns in the Sea of Monsters..)
John: How was it Ringo?
Ringo: 'Arrowing
Note he says this while pulling out arrows.
(In the sea of holes..)
John: This place reminds me of Blackburn, Lancashire
From the song "A Day in the Life" were the lyrics "4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire."
(relating to above.)
George: How many do you think there are?
Jeremy: Enough to fill the Albert Hall.
Again from the above mentioned song. "Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall."
Not done yet. Stopped at the Sea of Holes.
