About Me
Hi! My name is Meredith (but my friends call me Meri ). This past May I turned 20. I'm originally from Milwaukee, WI, where I lived the first 18˝ years of my life. Oh.....my life....Ummm...well, so far my life hasn't been the most stable element of my being. Anyway. I have many interests that I'd like to share, but I can only fit so many things onto my home page. So...here it goes!
My Family
This will probably be slightly confusing. Read slow and you should be ok. :) All right, first, there's my Mom and Dad. My Mom, Brenda, is the sweetest, most loving and caring woman a daughter could ever wish for. My Dad, Craig, a very comical character (and to me looks a LOT like John Ritter) plays a large roll in my life, even still. However, my parents divorced some 10 years ago. Both of my parents remarried. My Mom first, marrying my now stepfather, Mike. It is common knowledge that he and I dislike each other STRONGLY and DO NOT (I repeat DO NOT) get along! My Dad married my step mom,Laura, a total bear lover (don't ask to see her collection...one word: HUGE). Now Laura and I get along, but I contribute this to our lack of living together under the same roof for any extended length of time. Why? Because Laura needs (not wants...not likes...not prefers...NEEDS) everything to be clean and orderly. I, on the other hand, am a COMPLETE SLOB ( until I get so fed up with my own disorder that I finally clean up).
Siblings you ask? Yes, I have 3, well actually 4. First, there's my biological sister Jessica, daughter of Craig (dad) and Brenda (mom). We like to look upon her strangely because she's the only one in our immediate family with blonde hair. But we love her just the same. Jessica turns 17 this October. Second, there is my half-sister Therese, daughter of Brenda (mom) and Mike (step). Therese is the typical annoying younger sibling, but she has her "cute" moments. Therese turns 9 this August. Third is Tracy, my step-sister, daughter of Laura (step) in a previous relationship to my Dad.Tracy is 23 or 24 and I feel really bad that I don't know her exact age or birth month. (sorry Tracy :( ) The 4th...I'm told that I have a brother named Brendan who is 2 years older than me somewhere out there. I hope to someday find and meet him.
Family Pictures
Animaniacs
I am a huge fan of Animaniacs. I have been since the show first came out over 4 years
ago. I must say, my favorite of the Warners is the, blue-hatted,
tongue-always-stickin'-out, always-eating-everything-in-sight,
bag-of-endless-props-having-self...the greatest...the cutest...the most wonderful,
huggable, lovable, WAKKO WARNER! However, of the Animaniacs Crew itself, I have to declare
that my favorite character is the most sarcastic squirrel I've ever laid eyes on, Slappy
"the Slap Happy" Squirrel (Now that's comedy!). Did you ever notice the
most annoying characters? (I hope you all agree with me on these.) That stupid SUPPOSED
teenager Katie KaBoom. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't even see the point of the
cartoon. She's female...gets one of the "teenage-type" problems...gets totally
pissed off...turns into a monster...then blows up, thus turning back into her former self.
They're about as pointless as the Chicken Boo cartoons (however, I find the Chicken Boo
cartoons to be at least SLIGHTLY entertaining). The other character I get irritated with
is Mindy. Her cutesie attitude and annoying voice make my skin crawl, and Buttons, that
POOR dog!!! If I were Buttons, I would have dug a hole so damn deep and buried her ass
after the first 3 episodes!!! Problem solved. (Rita and Runt make a close 3rd, but I like
Rita's sarcasm and Runt's stupidness...hate the singing....the singing could go.)
As I said before, I am a huge fan. I have: collective figures, CD's, dolls, video tapes,
books, posters and not to mention all of the hours happily wasted staring at the
television screen while drooling and laughing at the wacky humor in their cartoons. I have
found, what I preceive, to be one of the most interesting Animaniacs sites that I
have stumbled across. The P.O.I.T.
site (yes, it's also what Pinky says) which points out insignificant technicalities within
the Animaniacs cartoons themselves. As many as I've seen, as many times as I've
seen the episodes, this site always causes my jaw to drop and then makes me laugh with all
of the things it points out. Be sure to check it out.
My net friend Teddy made me this gif. It
was my first gif.
Music
(I'd like to start this section by saying this is probably the most boring section on my homepage.) The high school I attended and graduated from (6/96) is an arts school. Milwaukee High School of the Arts is a school that has its students major in one of the 4 art areas: Visual Art, Instrumental and Vocal Music, Dance and Theatre.(I'd like to take a "time out" to say hi to all my M.H.S.A. friends Brian, Kevin, Holly, Gadge, Sarah, Davette, Mikey J, Gary, Peter, Jessica and all her cronies, and the rest of the "crew") I was an instrumental major, I play the clarinet. I've been playing for about 7 years now and I'm currently not performing with any groups (so if you know of one that needs a B flat saprano clarinet, PLEASE contact me!!! *g*) This has given me a great appreciation for classical music. But, being the red-blooded American teenager I am, I'm also into alternative music (still wondering "alternative to WHAT???"). Such groups as Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam (I like SOME of their songs, but I'm NOT a fan), Smashing Pumpkins (Billy Corgan is a BABE!), Ani DiFranco (I know you've probably never heard of her, check her out, she's great), White Zombie, Rancid, No Doubt, and Blur just to name a few.
Comics & DragonLance
Being female, I find that I'm a semi-rare breed in liking comics and DragonLance novels. I collect some cards such as Marvel Masterpieces and the Marvel trade cards and some comics. Not as collectors items, but because I like the storylines and art. My favorite X-Men Characters are Rogue [I love her quirky Southern attitude] and Gambit [he's hot even if he IS a comic character]. One of my most recent (okay, not THAT recent) discoveries was of a character named the Tick and his sidekick Arthur. I've watched the cartoons since they first popped on T.V., but have yet to sit down and read one of the original comics.
As for the DragonLance novels, I've been reading them since I was 15. I've gone through the Cronicles, Legends, Defenders of Magic, Kaz the Minotaur, The Legend of Huma, and the first Tales trilogy just to name a few. I have currently started on the Lost Histories Sextet. I'd have to say, my favorite characters were Raistlin and Tasslehof Burrfoot. Raistlin because of his enchanting and secretive ways and Tas because of his peeking curiousity. Another character I got a soft spot for was the human form of Paladine know only to the group of friends as the absent-minded mage Fizban. He always made me laugh. The best trilogy I came across that didn't deal with the original group was the Defenders of Magic trilogy. I was always amazed with tales of magic and fascinated with the storyline in this trilogy. If you like stories of mages and enchanting tales, be sure to read these 3 books.
Monty Python
And now for something completely different!!! This is another one of my infatuations. I
started watching the movies and t.v. shows about 4 years ago. I have collected well over
$250.00 worth of video tapes (gees hobbies are expensive). My ex-boyfriend Paul was the
first to show me the "mother" of all Python movies, "Monty Python and the
Holy Grail". So Paul, since you did nothing else for my life in our relationship, I
thank you for introducing me to Python. For those of you who STILL haven't seen
Holy Grail...WHY THE HELL NOT?!? I have also purchased the computer program, Monty
Python's Complete Waste of Time and I'll tell you, if you're not a true whole-hearted
Python fan you will get bored very quickly. However, I've wasted hours playing with
it...you should check it out. It comes with screen savers, icons, tons of sound wavs and
more.
Try this link, rather entertaining:)
An Interesting Love Story
I'm sure that you've all heard of the "unthinkable" net
romances. Well, let's take you back to mid-November of 1996...
*fairy dust sprinkles down*
At this point in time, I was in my first semester of college and was slowly pulling away
from family and friends. The pressure of school and being away from home was tearing me
apart. I made a friend from England on the internet by the handle of SPeeD©® (he
competes in wind surfing speed events). We talked for about an hour on the net and before
I knew it, we were talking on the phone. It was like an instantaneous friendship. He
called me just about everyday, I always had something to look forward to because of him.
When he knew I was especially down, he sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. We grew
very close of a short amount of time, and had talked about meeting. Figuring school and
money situations the soonest I could see it happening was June of '97, but he couldn't
wait, he wanted to meet sooner. I knew that I'd never have enough money in time, so
Darren (SPeeD©®) offered to pay for my flight. My Mom thought I was nuts and told
me I should be locked up, and in all her motherly rights, I knew she was correct, but I
felt something I couldn't let go of. I HAD to meet him. I left Dec. 28, 1996 and fell
totally in love,(and so did he).
All I can say, is that we felt connected since we'd first started talking. Our meeting
just finally brought everything together as a whole. When I saw him in the airport, all I
could do was run up to him, wrap my arms around him as tight as I could and never want to
let go. I flew back home Feb. 16, 1997 to gather my meager belongings and flew back to
England March 20, 1997 to be with Darren.

In a Pub
As of September 12, 1997, Darren J. Mathers and Meredith A. Cook have joined together in marriage to become Mr. and Mrs. Mathers. WE are living in the states right now. Of course we're having our problems, but so does every couple. When we aren't tearing eachother's head's off, we're a quite lovely couple. It was a small civil service in Birkenhead, England. We had about 30 guests, friends and family on Darren's side. We hope to have a ceremony in the states for my family and friends as well as those who attended the first service. We have pictures of the wedding, but BEWARE...these images are large AND TAKE TIME TO LOAD!!!
