![]() ![]() I guess all things considered, every day really is Mother's Day. At least, that's what my 2 children keep reminding me. I was lucky to be blessed with two wonderful boys...soon to be 21 and 18. There were days, as they were growing up, that I didn't think I was so "blessed" and "running away" seemed like a viable option. But, the joy, laughter and love that they brought into my life always seemed to out weigh the owies, tears and chaos. Gone are the days of, "mom, he's looking at me", "mom, he's got my ball", "mom, he's touching me", and "mom, I think I'm gonna puke". And, how many times I would come back with a reply and think to myself, "oh my, I've turned into my mother". Things like:
Well, after reading that, I guess you might say we survived each other. My sons have emerged into 2 fine young men and are my greatest accomplishment in life...they've managed to stay out of prison, and will both be in college next fall. The oldest has 3 years in and plans on going into teaching. The youngest will be a freshman and is looking into the area of graphic design. So, I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep reminding myself that EVERY day is Mother's Day! My advice to you new moms is this: Listen to your gut feeling, use your common sense, set priorities and most of all, keep your sense of humor. Just remember that children are more important than a stack of dirty dishes. Cherish those moments when they are young, because, in a blink of an eye, they're all grown up. ![]() WHY MOTHERS CRY"Why are you crying?" he asked his mom.
"Because I'm a mother," she told him.
"I don't understand," he said.
His mom just hugged him and said, "You never will!" Later the little
boy asked his father why Mother seemed to cry for no reason. "All mothers cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why mothers cry.
So he finally put in a call to God, and when God got on the phone
the man said, "God, why do mothers cry so easily?" God said, "You
see son, when I made mothers they
had to be special. I made their shoulders strong enough to carry the
weight
of the world, yet gently enough to give comfort. I gave them an inner
strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times come
from their children."
"I gave them a hardiness that allows them to keep going when everyone
else gives up, and to take care of their families through sickness
and
fatigue without complaining." "I gave them the sensitivity to love
their
children under all circumstances, even when their child has hurt them
very
badly.
This same sensitivity helps them to make a child's boo-boo feel
better and
helps them share a teenager's anxieties and fears."
"I gave them a tear to shed. It's theirs exclusively to use whenever
it's needed. It's their only weakness. It's a tear for mankind." The above was sent to me by one of my closest friends. She has 4 children of her own. Thanks...Carol. ![]() Mother's Day Gift
