I lost a friend.
She wasn't supposed to die.
I saw her on Friday and everyone commented on how well she looked,
how happy; especially after her near brush with death last Fall.
She really was happy.
She was 67 years old and looking forward to the next day; the next weekend.
She was going to have an "affair"; her first since her beloved husband died - 13 years ago.
I never knew him; but if he loved her - he was obviously very intelligent.
I lost a friend.
I miss her.
She was full of life; she loved life.
She took yoga three times a week and still found the time to advise her friends how to live their lives.
We didn't always appreciate it, but most of the time she was right.
I lost a friend.
We could talk about anything.
I am right-wing; she was not - we discussed politics.
We disagreed many times on principle, but we both agreed that Elian should live with his father
and that both of the people running for president made Teddy Kennedy look intelligent.
I lost a friend.
She was Jewish.
I am an agnostic.
She was proud of her heritage.
It meant a lot to her.
I admired and envied that.
I lost a friend.
You can tell me that she's "in a better place" or that "she's with Arthur"
and while that may be true, it doesn't make me feel better about losing a friend.
I miss her, I will continue to do so.
But the worst thing I could do is to forget ...
I had a friend, I lost her physically, but her soul lives on in all the lives she touched.
Thank you Ellen.
I will miss you always, but your words, your actions and the way you lived will help me to be a better person.
I know that I am a better person for having had you in my life.

Linda's words touched my heart and soul
and with her permission I am sharing them with you all.
I did not know Ellen but I know Linda loved her as a mom and a friend.
