Welcome to my pets page.
Thanks for coming.

Being a new dog owner... I was given these and thought that I would share them with those who visit my page.  I did not write them and I do not know who did...if you read these and know who did write them...please let me know so that I can give them credit for them.  I hope they touch your heart as they did mine.

10 COMMANDMENTS FOR A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER
(from a dog's perspective)

  1.  My life is likely to last 10 years.  Any separation from you will be very
       painful.

  2.  Give me time to understand what you want of me.

  3.  Place your trust in me - it is crucial for my well-being.

  4.  Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment.
You have your work, and your friends.  I only have you!

  5.  Talk to me.  Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your
voice when it's speaking to me.

  6.  Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.

  7.  Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush
the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

  8.  Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if
something might be bothering me.  Perhaps I'm not getting the right
food, or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting
       old and weak.

  9.  Take care of me when I get old.  You to, will grow old.

10.  Go with me on difficult journeys.  Never say, "I can't bear to watch it,"
or "Let it happen in my absence."  Everything is easier for me if you
       are there.

When God made the earth and sky the flowers and the trees
He then made all the animals and all the birds and bees.
And when his work was finished not one was quite the same
He said "I'll walk this earth of mine and give each one a name"

And so He travelled land and sea and everywhere He went
A little creature followed him until its strength was spent
When all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea
The little creature said Dear Lord, there's not one left for me."
The Father smiled and softly said "I've left you to the end
I've turned my own name back to fromt and call you
'Dog', my friend".

Unfortnately a few months ago I lost my friend Nipper to Canine Alzheimer's.  I had never heard of it myself but apprently it afftects dogs the same as it does humans.  My wonderful friend was at the point that he did know who I was anymore.  It has broken my heart more than I could every say.  He has also gone over the Rainbow Bridge...but I preferred to keep him here with his poems.
