In running OPERATION: Blackout I have noticed
that a lot of you have
questions about the Operation itself, the goals, and a million
other
things. Some of these questions I see frequently. So this section
is to
respond to these questions, so that people know what may not be
explained good enough in the site. If you have any questions that
are
not explained here, I encourage you to e-mail me at
D_Scully_1013@yahoo.com. Thank you. :)
A: This is a lot easier than it seems. There are # steps,
which are:
Step 1: Save your
current home page HTML or HTM file to your
hard drive (most of the time it is index.htm or index.html)
Note: If it is a .htm, you may need to remove it from your
site temporarily.
Step 2: Upload the new
index.html file from the Blackout site
(this one) to your web host. If you have a main site that is
not a index.html, rename the Blackout file to the name of
whatever your main site is.
Step 3: After the
blackout is complete, just delete the html file
from the blackout and put your old one back up! Simple
as that!
A: Yes! As long as you want to participate, you can! As
long as your
site complies with the rules listed
in the 'Rules' section, feel free to
put a banner on your site, no
matter if it a fan site or not.
A: You can help even in little ways! Telling friends about
the blackout,
or putting a link in your e-mail.
Also, writing to newspapers or
magazines or even TV stations are a
BIG help! For some contact
info, look in the 'Contact'
section of the website.
still join?
A: Sure you can! The Blackout is now in the process of
making
Blackout sites in different
languages, so the word can get out
faster. However, for the time
being, you can still join! Just be
aware that some of your visitors
may not speak English and
understand what this site is about.
If you have HTML experience
and speak another language, please
consider helping us out with
the international part of the
blackout. More info can be found in the
'Help Us' section.
A: Relax, it is nothing to worry about. What the Blackout
is trying to
do with copyright is to make a fair
internet use clause. The current
'Fair use clause' was made before
the internet was around. Made
before the internet became the
information powerhouse that it is
today. You can read more about this
in the 'Copyright' section of
the website (coming soon!).
