Chapter 7

"Brian I," Amanda began as she pulled away from his embrace.

Brian smiled at her, "wow!"

Amanda shook her head, "no, this is wrong, I can’t stand you," she stuttered.

Brian’s grin faded, "what are you talking about, I thought..."

"You thought wrong," she hissed, fighting back the tears. Then she turned and ran as far and a fast as she could.

"What the hell?" Brian screamed throwing his hands into the air.

From the bedroom window Nick and Sahar saw the whole scene unfold. Sahar gasped and Nick moaned, "see I told you, he put the moves on my best friend and now she ran off."

Sahar turned to Nick, "Nick, I love you, but you are so dense sometimes. Go find Amanda, I’ll talk to Brian." Then she grabbed his arm and drag him downstairs.

By the time Amanda stopped running she was gasping for breath, her face stained with tears. She looked around and realized she was at thefort. The fort was the playhouse that Nick, Sahar, and Amanda used to play in when they were kids. She climbed in the door and sat down onthe wooden floor. She glanced around at the old walls. They weredecorated with drawing and phrases and things that the three of themhad put up. She glanced towards the ceiling and sawNick+Amanda+Sahar=Friends4Ever. Nick had written that the last daythey had come here, the day Nick left with the guys to become aBackstreet Boy. Amanda closed her eyes as the tears slipped down hercheeks. "Manda?" a voice whispered. She opened her eyes and saw Nick watchingher from the doorway. "Manda, don’t cry," he told her softly as hecrawled in next to her.

"Nicky, I screwed up," she sobbed as she threw herself into his open arms. He held her tight and rocked her, lettingher cry her heart out.

"Nick I kissed Brian, and he kissed me."

"I know, I saw from the window. Did he try anything, because if he did.."

"No Nicky, Brian is sweet, generous, and caring, I’ve just been tofoolish to see it. Then he kisses me and I run, I was so mean to himand now he probably hates me."

Nick stroked her hair gently, "they were right, you do love Brian."

"Who was right?"

"Sahar, and the guys."

Amanda was quiet for moment, "no, they are wrong, I don’t love Brian, I don’t know Brian well enough to love him, but I could love him. Very easily in fact, and that’s what scares me." Amanda hugged Nick tightly around the waist, "come on Kaos, I have to talk toBrian." Nick nodded and they climbed out of the fort and headed backtowards Nick’s house.
