Stories:
One time, at Shifters practice, we were playing at Mike's apartment all through the night. We were playing real loud and it was fun. And this mean man from next door came over and told us his girlfriend was studying and that we needed to shut up. But we laughed at him because it was a Saturday night, and who studies on Saturday? Then he told us about the noise ordinance in Gainesville and he told us we didn't want to mess with it. So we quieted down. But later, we practiced some more and then this cop came inside the apartment. She was a girl. She had her hand on her gun when she walked in. We quieted down again. She told us we broke the noise ordinance and that one more violation would result in Mike going to jail. Also, she ran a check on Mike through her walkie-talkie and instead of calling him,Mike, she called him India Golf Lima Alpha Romeo. From then on we called him that too. Then we weren't allowed to practice for 30 days, all because of that mean man. So instead we practiced at Phil's. We're pretty sneaky. Later, we asked that man not to call the police any more when we played. Then he told us he was the police. It was fun.
Another time, we went to go see The Empire Strikes Back at 12:30am. It was fun because we bonded as a band. Our whole band was there. We sat all in a row together close to the front. There were these people in front of us and we were making fun of them. Then this preview for a movie called Starship Troopers came on and the guys in front of us started bouncing all around. We thought they were going to turn around and pick a fight with us, but instead they said to each other, Oh great, Starship Troopers. They sounded real funny when they said it. We laughed so hard. Later, we named our new song Starship Troopers to remember that moment forever.
One time, we had to go to Jason's farm in Live Oak to practice for a whole weekend. They were having a goat show in Live Oak when we got there. We drove around looking for it, but we couldn't find it. Then we went to Publix and shopped as an entire band. The natives were looking at us like we were on a field trip from the mental institute. Sean kept yelling, real live ski music. People were staring. Then we bought a bunch of chicken and barbeque sauce. The Shifters told Phil he could have the barbeque sauce if there was any left. Then we went to the farm. We barbequed the chicken and Phil hit on the horse. All the while,Bozza helped marinate the chicken while we listened to Sweet Home Alabama on the Forrest Gump Soundtrack. Erik was dancing around like a crazy mule. It was fun. Later that night we ate and watched the bug zapper kill things. Then we walked back to the little house in the dark and it was scary. We were worried that the bad men from Deliverance would come out and make us squeal like a pig. But there were lots of fireflies to keep things lit up. Then we got back to the house and we practiced real hard. Then we went to bed, but it took a long time to fall asleep because Bozza was singing I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.Billy got mad and called him a Chirstmas loving ball of shit. Bozza is half Jewish. Jenny tried to record her voice on the four-track but when we played it back, she sounded like Satan. Then we went to bed. In the morning we practiced some more and then we came home.
Another time, we were supposed to have a show at a club called The Lyric in downtown Gainesville. We were real excited because we were a new band and hadn't had a real show. We were happy because The Usuals set up the gig for us. We were supposed to open for a band from Ft. Lauderdale called King 7. We got there at 10:00 and so did King 7. We waited for two hours but the club never opened. We were very sad. Then some girl came up to us and said, play on my front porch. So we went to her house. It was behind Taco Bell. We played on her front porch at 12:30am on a Tuesday night. It was fun. Then the police came and said stop. We ran and hid.
