Captain Jean-Luc Picard Commanding Officer, USS Enterprise Jean-Luc Picard is the commanding offier of the Enterprise. He was born and raised on a family vineyard in France before heading for Starfleet Academy. Picard has had a very interesting Starfleet career, from a near fatal encounter with a Nausicaan as an ensign to a life-altering stay on the USS Stargazer, to his posts as Captains of two starships Enterprise. Picard has never been married and has no children, although he has had close relationships with many women, including an attraction to Beverly Crusher. Two species have been introduced via Picard: the omnipotent entity Q, and the Borg. Picard had a traumatic experience when the Borg kidnapped and assimilated him into their collective, renaming him Locutus and forcing him to serve in the Borg's attack on Wolf 359 and the failed assimilation of Earth. He had unique cosmic experiences such as entering the Nexus and protecting the fountain-of-youth planet where the B'aku live. He also faced his own worst enemy when he was cloned by the Romulans. The clone, Shinzon, came after Picard and the two engaged in battle. images:
