1.)HARVEST OF FRIENDS- (Sept. 11, 1974) The Ingalls move into their house after leaving the Big Woods. Pa first meets the townsfolk, including Mrs. Oleson who refuses to give him credit because she fears he'll run up the bill and "skip out in the dead of night." He ends up striking a deal with Mr. Liem O'Neil, the proprieter of the Walnut Grove Feed & Seed, in order to get the plow he needs. He promises to fix the shed and stack the grain in 3 weeks or his oxen will go to O'Neil. Later, during a family picnic, Pa crawls up a tree to get a kite and falls out, breaking his ribs. Dr. Baker tells him he must stay in bed. Because he couldn't work his oxen are taken away. Pa goes to confront O'Neil even though he wasn't supposed to get out of bed because he still has until midnight to fulfill his part of the deal. He collapses while stacking the grain, and Mary & Laura, who followed him there, run up and take over the job. This prompts the townsmen to all come up and help out by forming an assembly line & stack the rest of the grain. O'Neil, feeling guilty by now, tries to convince them he was about to give Mr. Ingalls more time, but they ignore him. After the work is done, Mr. Hanson tells Charles that the town is holding a plowing & harrowing contest and they want to use his land. (In other words, they want to do his plowing for him.) Laura's voice at the end says:"...Pa said he was glad we had come to live on the banks of Plum Creek because here, he'd harvested a crop he didn't know he'd planted -- a harvest of friends."

Guest Stars 2.) COUNTRY GIRLS- (1974) In this episode, Laura & Mary start school. They have never been to a school before this, but Ma had taught Mary to read. Laura knew the alphabet. Laura kept getting into fights with Nellie Oleson. Pa had told her to "do unto others," and Laura kept wondering "when Nellie's ma would get around to telling her the same thing." The students have to write an essay to read in front of the classroom on Visitor's Day. This worries Laura because she hasn't learned to write well yet and can't get what's in her head down on paper. Ma buys some nice blue material to make herself a new dress to wear on Visitor's Day, but as it turns out, she makes dresses for Laura & Mary out of the material instead. When it comes time to read the essays, Laura does not read what's on her paper, but instead says what she would have written down if she could have. Everyone loves it, thinking she had it written on the piece of paper. When everyone leaves, Ma confronts Laura by the school steps and asks if that was what was really on the paper. Laura shows her the paper and decides she had better show it to Miss Beadle. When Miss Beadle sees the real essay, she avoids mentioning it. She instead tells Ma that Laura's improving in school but that her penmanship needs work. Laura & Ma are both relieved that she wasn't mad.
