Mrs. Oleson, however, doesn't trust that they will get them paid and constantly reminds them that they haven't paid yet. Nellie and Willie also resort to teasing Laura about how her father smells bad because of the work he has to do. But despite how they have to work hard to be able to pay a small bill, Mr. Oleson tells Pa that he is the richest man in Walnut Grove. This is because of how his family is so close and that that is the most important part. 25.)FOUR EYES- (Sept.17,1975) Mary's grades begn to fall causing her parents to discover she needs glasses. She is so happy when she first gets them because she can see so much clearer, but Nellie and Willie start calling her names so she decides to "lose" the glasses. 26.) EBENEZER SPRAGUE- (Nov.19,1975) A bank is built in Walnut Grove and the banker, Mr. Sprague, turns out to be really mean. Laura makes friends with him, without knowing he's the banker, and talks about "her friend" every day when she gets home. She finally discovers his identity after talking to him about a contribution the town would like him to make, and he blames her for trying to sweet-talk him into donating although she had no idea he was even the banker that they had been talking about. 27.) THE SPRING DANCE- (Oct.29,1975) Ma coaches Laura and the Widow Snider (Grace) on how to make the guys they like jealous enough to ask them to the Spring Dance. When the plan backfires, she has to tell them to own up to what they did and actually ask the guys to the dance themselves. 28.) AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW- (Dec.10,1975) Laura and her friend Jonah discover "gold" in the river. Laura then starts to imagine how life will be once she is "rich." 29.) THE CAMP-OUT- (Oct.8,1975) The Oleson's join the Ingalls on a family camp-out because of Mrs. Oleson's fear that the Ingalls kids will have an unfair advantage over hers in collecting leaves for a school project. 30.) HAUNTED HOUSE- (Sept.24,1975) Laura is dared to touch the house of a strange "maniac" who lives nearby. She ends up making friends with the man, who turns out to be very kind. When she discovers something that he had tried for years to convince himself wasn't true, he gets angry with her and tells her to never come back. She refuses to give up on him and eventually helps him to overcome his denial and accept the truth. 31.) THE BIG INNING- (Oct.1,1975) The men of Walnut Grove compete against a baseball team that always cheats to win. But the townfolk believe that Walnut Grove will win because of a great new pitcher they have. When his wife finds out they are betting money on him to win, she forbids him to play. They finally comromise and promise to give the winnings to the church. Then they have to fight their hardest to beat the other team despite the constant cheating. 32.) REMEMBER ME- (Nov.5,1975)(Nov.12, 1975) Mrs. Sanderson, a dying mother, tries to find a home for her 3 kids -- John Jr., Carl, and Alicia. Mr. Edwards and Grace Snider decide to get married and take the kids in themselves. 33.) A MATTER OF FAITH- (Feb.4,1976) While the kids and Pa are at the lake, Ma battles an infected wound that keeps getting worse. It gets so bad that she considers cutting her leg off. 34.) THE TALKING MACHINE- (Jan.14,1976) Nellie uses a newfangled phonograph to win over a boy that both her and Laura are in love with. When she sees that he still is interested in Laura more, she decides to secretly record Laura spilling her guts about how much she loves him and play it back at school during show and tell. 35.) THE GIFT- (Dec.17,1975) Laura and Mary are in charge of using the Sunday School money to buy the Rev. Alden a Bible for his birthday. However, they use it to buy medicine instead to sell so that they can make enough money to buy a better Bible instead. But, they can't seem to sell all the medicine and have to confront the fact that there will be no present when it comes time for them to present one to the Reverend. 36.) THE PRIDE OF WALNUT GROVE- (Jan.28,1976) Mary is chosen to represent Walnut Grove at an academic event. When her parents tell her they can't pay for the trip, Laura informs Mrs. Beadle, and the school board picks up the cost. Mary then is worried about what will happen if she doesn't win and disappoints all the people who are counting on her. 37.) HIS FATHERS SON- (Jan.7,1976) Mr. Edwards can't accept the fact that his son, John Jr., doesn't like to hunt and makes him come on a hunting trip with him after buying him a rifle for his birthday. Not knowing that Mr. Edwards can't read, he writes him a letter explaining his feelings. Mr. Edwards just looks at it and puts it away leaving John to feel even worse. When tragedy strikes in the woods, John can't bring himself to use the rifle to save his father. Later he must face is injured father's anger about not being rescued. 38.) THE RUNAWAY CABOOSE- (Feb.11,1976) During a trip to the train station, Laura, Mary, and Carl get on a caboose. The caboose breaks loose from the train and starts flying down the track. Pa and Mr. Edwards have to find a way to stop the caboose, and another train that is headed for it, from crashing into each other. 39.) THE LONG ROAD HOME- (Mar.3,1976) Pa and Mr. Edwards take a very risky job trans- porting blasting oil. They have to deal with one co-worker's prejudice against a black co- worker during this time. 40.) CENTENNIAL- (Mar.3,1976) Walnut Grove's Centennial celebration is in danger of being cancelled because higher taxes have caused the people to lose respect for their country. 41.) TROUBLEMAKER- (Feb.25,1976) When a new teacher comes to Walnut Grove because Miss. Beadle can't handle the big boys, he has it out for Laura from the beginning. No matter what happens, she is always the one to get the blame, including suspension from school. 42.) FOR MY LADY- (Mar.10,1976) Laura and Mary are suspicious that Pa is having an affair with another woman. They notice that he is never where he says he's going to be, and they always find his wagon at her house -- even when he took off work for the day and told the family that he was going to be out of town. 43.) GOING HOME- (Mar.31,1976) When Pa a storm hits and destroys their crop, Pa decides that the family will have to move. The new buyers, who were actually the original owners of the house, discover that Laura seems to hate them for taking back the house. When they see that the Ingalls really don't want to move anymore, they tell them that they won't be able to buy the house afterall. 44.) SOLDIER'S RETURN- (Mar.24,1976) Mrs. Whipple's son returns home. He is a great musician and even starts teaching music lessons in Walnut Grove. However, it turns out that he is addicted to the morphine that he was given for a war injury years before.
