JAG "Survivor" Spoof...
From Entertainment Weekly
The Navy rescues a woman who appears stranded on a raft -- and ends up
disqualified from a Survivor-like show. If Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was
still No. 1, we would have probably spoofed Millionaire, says JAG exec
producer Don Bellisario. "I'm sick of Millionaire."
From TV Guide
Don Bellesario indicated that he likes to mock current culture, and would have been spoofing ABC's Who Wants to Be a Millionare had Survivor not hit it so big. The idea behind the JAG episode is that the Navy rescues a woman on a raft adrift at sea. It turns out that she is really a contestent in a Survivor-like reality show, and is now disqualified.

JAG Renewed...
CBS Renews 'Judging Amy,' Seven Other Series
By Michael Schneider
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - The verdict's in for freshman drama ''Judging Amy'' and seven other CBS series: Renewed.
The network announced Thursday that it will bring back ''Amy,'' ``Everybody Loves Raymond,'' ``The King of Queens,'' ''Becker,'' ``JAG,'' ``Touched by an Angel,'' ``Walker, Texas Ranger'' and ``Nash Bridges'' for next fall.
Meanwhile, the future remains uncertain for first-year sitcom ``Ladies' Man'' and three freshman dramas -- ``Family Law,'' ``Now and Again'' and ``City of Angels,'' the high-profile hospital series co-created by Steven Bochco with a predominantly minority cast.
CBS staples ``Diagnosis Murder,'' ``Chicago Hope,'' ``Early Edition,'' ``Kids Say the Darndest Things'' and ``Martial Law'' also are awaiting their fate.
CBS already has announced that ``Cosby'' is retiring this season after four seasons. Also serving as plant food, barring any last-minute miracles, are ``Grapevine,'' ``Falcone,'' ``Work With Me'' and ``Love & Money.''
In a twist on the eight series earmarked for renewal, CBS gave the shows 24-episode orders instead of the standard 22. With the additional originals and a shortened season (due to the Summer Olympics), CBS hopes to air fewer repeats next year.
The network, of course, can order still more episodes during the course of the season.
No Brainers
Most of the CBS renewals were no-brainers. ``Raymond,'' for example, is up 6 percent in homes (to a 11.5 Nielsen rating/17 share), up 13 percent among adults 18-49 (to a 6.1 rating) and up 9 percent in total viewers (to 17.17 million people).
``The King of Queens,'' ``Becker'' and ``JAG'' also HAVE posted year-to-year jumps in households, viewers and key demographics. ``King of Queens,'' in particular, showed strong growth in adults 18-49, jumping 34 percent to a 4.7 average rating.
``King'' and ``Becker'' will both enter their third season this fall; ``JAG'' and ``Raymond,'' their fifth (not including ''JAG's'' first season on NBC); ``Nash Bridges,'' its sixth; ''Touched,'' its seventh; and ``Walker,'' its ninth.
With judgement day upon this fall's new entries, ``Judging Amy'' is the first at CBS to make the cut. ``Amy'' scored as the year's top-rated drama in homes (average 10.2/17) and total viewers (14.1 million).
The CBS announcement means three of the network's four Monday night sitcoms have been renewed, the Eye's two Tuesday dramas are set for another season, and its top-rated Friday, Saturday and Sunday dramas will also return.
The news also wasn't quite as dramatic as last year, when CBS got an early jump and renewed 12 of its established series at the end of February.
