We all met in Thyatis to go on a little adventure. The catch is that we all assumed that the adventure would be easy, but as we soon found out we were wrong. We now have to save yet another country, like we had to do so many times before. But this is turning out to be a little more than we can handle.
Our current lineup is
Blueberry Mann (a powerful mage),
Amanda (an oversexed fighter),
Lindy (a greedy elf),
and Raia (a feeble cleric).
As it turns out there is a lot of undead running around, and we just happen to have not brought a competent cleric with us. So we are adventuring with two characters reincarnated, (Vanessa and Raia, and just now one character Vanessa has gone missing. We are also presently yelling our secret password all over town. We haven't got a clue on where we are, or where we are supposed to be.
We have found out that our missing mage has been taken to a temple. The logical thing to do would be to try and find out why, and if she can be released, but that isn't how WE handle things. Blue decided that a show of force is the best answer.
So, first we try to just barge in through the north door. We send our fighter Amanda up to the door to pound it in. The catch is, we failed to notice the two guards that were standing there in plain sight. They immediately paralyzed the fighter bashing on the temple door, and drove us all away. So it looked like we needed Plan (b).
Plan (b): We saw that there was a trap door on the roof and figured `lets go for it'. We cast fly spells, drank potions of invisibility, and flew up there. Invisibly, we went through the trap door where we ran into two fighters. We took care of them rather quickly then moved on. To make a long story short, we trashed the temple, but forgot to kill three people who were to come back and haunt us later. So we went back to the temple to take care of these three. After getting there and finding out that these people went to get help, we decided to leave. As we tried to leave, we were stopped by the law and some guards. After a little battle, we decided to leave this town the fastest way possible.
Let's pick up later in the adventure, with us running for our lives. A few days out we found ourselves level drained and almost dead, so we decided to make this adventure a bad memory. We sat down and memorized spells like `teleport' and quickly teleported to Lindy's house in Darokin; "exit stage left". Much to our horror, we found out that the stupid, weak old man who sent us on this adventure (the king), geased us, so Lindy, Amanda, and Raia arrived at Lindy's house unconscious. Luckily for them, Blue was still up after all of this. We decided to ask Rheddrian, our favorite alien, to help us, and he sent us a mage.
Well, let's just say that the mage can't help us, so we teleport to where our friend Formi the cleric lives, so that he can cast restoration spells on us. As we are doing this, Blueberry Mann accidently teleports Lindy into the ground. "Exit our second party member." The rest of us arrived safely with only one other close call. Formi decided to help us 'for a little price'. We now had go back to Lindy's to get her magic items so that we could try to get her back to life. It didn't work, so we used a speak with dead spell to ask her what else we should try. Nothing worked, so Lindy gave two of us something to remember her by. The rest of it was bequeathed to her mother and father.
We asked the mage that Rheddrian sent us to tag along. He agreed and off we go, back to Wendar- ain't it just like us to head off without another cleric AGAIN. After a brief conversation with the king, we headed out again. The king teleported us to another character that was supposed to catch up with us before, but that failed to do so. Now it was up to us to save HIS butt. We got there just in time to save him from being killed. Thus we have now added Charles the Cleric (an even more worthless cleric than Raia to the party. But anyway, since we have two high level mages in the party, we decided to travel the rest of the way invisibly.
After some minor battles we could have avoided (we forgot that we were invisible AND disguised with the enemies uniforms), we got to the tower of the Shadow Lord. Even better, at the tower waiting for us, was yet another ally for our side, Psyche (the most untrustworthy elf alive). Now we needed to come up with a plan to get inside.
Here's the situation: we have a tower with a rather large cloudkill spell around it.
Here's what we do: We turned everyone invisible and flew up to the tower, over the cloud kill. Now that that is done, we figured that the best way in would be to dimension door someone inside the top floor window. Their job would be to simply open the window so everyone else can get inside. Now, that should be simple enough, but noooo; he had to be a hero. (Keep in mind that we are all invisible, so we can't see each other.) The `hero' Psyche sees the Elvenstar (the item that we came to recover from the Shadow Lord) sitting right there in front of him, so he grabbed it, opened the window, and then flew outside. (Don't cheer for us yet.) Like I said, we are invisible, so all that the rest of us see is that the window is now open. As we head for the open window, Psyche yells, `I got it! Let's get out of here!' So we all converged on his voice, since he said that he has the Elvenstar.
Unfortunately, the Shadow Lord had cast a detect invisible spell on himself when the Elvenstar had started moving on its own, and the windows had opened by themselves. Now visible to him, he fireballed us when we all grouped together. Psyche and Charles dropped. The rest of us scattered. Oops, we seem to have forgotten the gem, which was with the elf, and now there are only have three of us left alive. Blue, Amanda, and Rheddrian's mage. Hey, wait a minute. Raia disappeared somewhere. Oh well, she wasn't doing anything to help out anyway.
Since we are probably outnumbered, we need a plan. Blue comes up with it. We move around to the front of the castle and pick up the dead elf. With his body, we went to the back of the castle and cast `reincarnate' on him. It doesn't restore him to life as an elf; we get a dwarf. (Which is even better if you ask me). At this point, for some stupid reason, we all decide to take a few picks from a magical deck that Rheddrian's mage is carrying around, and Blue picked a card that trapped his soul on another plane. Oops.
What happens next is a little strange. Blueberry and his friends- Joe Schmoe, Shadow, An Alphation Mage, and a few others- scry on the party and find out that they are once again going after the Shadow Lord. We figured that they might need a hand, so we teleport to a point where we know that they will have to cross no matter what. The new party consists of Vanessa, Amanda, Rebecca, and Raia. Well, they were a little bewildered and suspicious about seeing Blueberry Mann sitting there after what they saw had happened to him earlier.
Well, after a little hesitation, they decided that as long as we were put on different watches, then they could make sure that we weren't dopplegangers, and all would be fine. Besides, there is safety in numbers. Because of the long delay, I will cut to the chase; Blue and the rest turned out to be the real deal, so we went up to the Shadow Lord and kicked his butt. The only major problem that we ran into was Vanessa. She started attacking us again, so Big Blue teleported her to Karameikos.
Note from me: Some of the following might be a little wrong so if anyone that was there sees this and remembers it differently, let me know.
Well, we were all sitting around wondering what we could do next. So, like any other group of adventurers, we decide to go look for something to do. I don't remember how or what, but we ended up doing something. I remember getting beat up by wolves and then a ghost thingy and then we ran into a beholder. (My mind must be blocking the horrific event). Anyway, as we were fighting the beholder, Rheddrian called us, so we all got together and he teleported us away.
