Kadokawa Group's Midsummer School Festival 1998 was held at Tokyo Big Sight on 08/02/98 and 08/03/98.
In the two days, Tokyo Charcters Show was held there. The festival was held in the meeting space.
Kadokawa Group has already had a lot of popular anime titles. For example, Slayers, CLAMP's X, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Martian Successor Nadesico (Kidousenkan Nadesico).
In 1998, Kadokawa Shoten made two anime-movies. They were "Nadesico the Movie" and "Slayers Gorgeous."
They were released on 08/08/98.
Events on those movies were held on 08/02/98 - 08/03/98 there.
On 08/02/98, an event on Slayers was held. On the other hand, an event on Nadesico was held.
What is Nedesico?
What? Dr.FangLang did not know it! It had a wirepuller. As you know, his name is Toshimichi Outsuki, Great Producer from King Records.
He is a young fat man.
TV-Tokyo broadcast TV series of Nedesico in 1996. The producer was Ms Noriko Kobayashi. She appeared on the anime as a voice actress.
Nadesico's Director was Tatsuo Satou. He was also the director of the anime-movie Nadesico. There he wrote the scenario. On the other hand, character designers were Kia Asamiya and his Studio TRON.
Nadesico was a parody of GUNDAM and Yamato. A conglomerate named "Nergal Heavy Industries" made a space battle ship "Nadesico." The large-scale ship was independent from Earth Union Force.
In 2195, automatic weapons from Jupitor attacked Earth and Moon.
In fact, in Jupitor, a lot of exiled persons lived. They founded Jupitor Union. They also made these automatic weapons called "Jupitor Lizards."
However Earth Union did not teach their true character. Earth Union said to earth people, "No one lives in Jupitor." A large-scale company "NERGAL" wanted to continue the battle between Earth and Jupitor. So NERGAL wanted earth people not to know the true character of Jupitor Lizards. (Nergal means Mars.)
Jupitor Union people called those automatic weapons insect-shaped weapons.
They also wanted to continue the battle to enlarge their Force.
In 22nd Century, the main power of the Space Forces was automatic weapons. Therefore Space Battleships did not need excellent captains. Captains were regarded as crews' symbols.
In Jupitor, highly developed technology made powerful automatic weapons. But they made much more of chivalry. Therefore Jupitor Battleships had grave-looking captains.
In Jupitor, an anime title was very popular. It was "Gekiganger-3" made in Earth. It was an old-type warm-hearted Robot anime. It consisted of 39 stories. Jupitor people made much more of the anime and its spirits.
On the other hand, in Mars, many people lived. People scattered nano-machines to create moderate environment for mankinds. They discovered a ruin made by ancient Martians. It meant a kind of time-machine. However if a normal mankind entered the ruin, he would go to a distant place in a distant time. So he would be dead. The function was called Boson Jump. It was made by Tulip Crystal. Nano-machines there rewrote gene information of Mars people fit for the Boson Jump. On the other hand, Jupitor people made those crystal a kind of weapon called "Tulips." They sent a lot of Lizards via Tulips.
Dr. Tenkawa studied the mechanism of Tulip Crystal. However NERGAL wanted to monopolize the crystal. So NERGAL killed Dr. Tenkawa and his wife. Their son, Akito Tenkawa (CV = Yuji Ueda) became an orphan. Thereafter he became a pilot in Mars. In a shelter, he met a little girl "Ai-chan" (CV = Tomoko Kawakami). Then Jupitor Lizard attacked them. He could not help her. He had a crystal. So its Boson Jump made him go to the earth. He worked as a cook. He always escaped Jupitors' attack. So he lost his job.
NERGAL wanted to use Battleship Nadesico as a civilian use. NERGAL wanted Nadesico to go to Mars. Of course, NERGAL wanted Martians' ruin.
NERGAL gathered civilian crews all over the world. But they were all fools.
First, Captain Yurika Misumaru (CV = Houko Kuwashima) was a cute 20-year-old girl. She was easy-going and was preposessed with the notion that Akito loved Yurika. Just after the TV series, she was luckily married with Akito. Most part of the TV series consisted of non-sense dialogues between Yurika and Akito.
Second, Pilot Jirou Yamada (CV = Tomokazu Seki) called himself Gai Daigouji. He thought himself as a pilot of Gekiganger-3. He was killed a soldier (spy) from Earth Union Force.
Third, Megumi Reinard (CV = Naoko Takano) was the bridge communications officer of the Nadesico. She was a voice actress. She had been a student of Nurse School. Yes! It is a parody of Megumi Hayashibara. Megumi Reinard was Yurika's rival. She also loved Akito.
These easy-going characters would make the title a kind of comedy. However several characters were killed in the TV-series.
On the other hand, several characters work seriously.
Chef Houmei (CV = Miyuki Ichijou) was a cook of Chinese dishes. She is a tall and powerful woman. Under her, Akito Tenkawa learned dishes as a cook. She formerly cooked a paella for a dying soldier. But then she did not know paella and did not have saffron. The soldier was dead. She cried. Since then she studied dishes all over the world. She always provided spices all over the world because the battleship was a battle space.
Just after the death of Gai Daigouji, three female pilots were employed. They are Izumi Maki (CV = Miki Nagasawa), Hikaru Amano (CV = Shiho Kikuchi) and Ryouko Subaru (CV = Chisa Yokoyama). Ms Ryouko Subaru was a fighter. She was warm-hearted. She was a spirited woman. Thereafter she also loved Akito. But she gave up him.
Nadesico's human-shaped weapon was called Aestivalis. Gai, Izumi, Hikaru, Ryouko and Akito were Aestivalis pilots. Akito was also a cook under Chef Houmei.
Ruri Hoshino (CV = Omi Minami) looked like a little child. She was 11 years old. She was a kind of artificial mankind. She was called "Ruriruri."
She was brought up by computers. In Nadesico, she worked as the bridge computer operator. The computer was called Omoi-Kane. Omoi-Kane could learn from its experiences. It had a symbol mark. It meant Japanese ancient bronze bell "Doutaku."
Ruriruri always said to Omoi-Kane, "Who am I?" Omoi-Kane always showed the same data. But Omoi-Kane was her friend.
In the anime-movie, Ruriruri was the new captain.
Now, Ai-chan went to ancient Mars via Boson Jump. She began to study Martians' ruin after she had returned 22nd Century again. She called herself Innes Fressange (CV = Naoko Matsui). She developed Proto-type Nadesico. She showed Akito her true character in the last episode. Inees was a parody of Ritsuko Akagi from Eva.
In the last episode, Jupitor Union Force, Earth Union Force and Nadesico fought against eath other.
Nadesico crews regarded the cause of this battle as the contol unit of Martians' ruin. They wanted to transport the control unit to a distant place via Boson Jump. To happen Boson Jump, Akito kissed Yurika. Nadesico and ruin's control unit went to a distant place.
The anime got very popular. So King Records made Gekiganger-3 as a play within a play. At present Gekiganger-3 is an independent anime title. It is a parody of Mazinger-Z.
There Houko Kuwashima played the tole of Yurika Misumaru, the heroine. She also got very popular.
Ms Kuwashima is famous as an eccentric girl. She was born on 12/12/75 in Iwate Prefecture. Her blood type is A. She is 158 cm tall and weighs 45 kg. She is good at reciting Tohoku-dialect poems.
She played the tole of Firia from Slayers TRY.
Unfortunately she is very popular but she has had few jobs.
Just before the release of the anime-movie Nadesico, TV-Tokyo broadcast TV-anime type Nadesico as a revival. Of course, TV-Aichi and TV-Osaka also began the revival. However TV-Osaka broadcast one episode per a week. TV-Osaka also broadcast opening theme and ending theme. But TV-Tokyo's revival was done on 08/01/98 - 08/03/98. Some episodes, opening theme and ending theme were abridged. I was disappointed.
I could not understand it. I am still disappointed.
On 08/03/98, I went to Tokyo Big Sight. That day a small symposium was held there. Houko Kuwashima, Director Tatsuo Satou and Great Producer Toshimichi Outsuki appeared. I went there at 7:30 a.m. But I was 2,100th attendant. I wait for 6 hours. I saw the three. What! Houko Kuwashima looked pale. Ms Omi Minami joined with the symposium as a video message. Omi Minami was rather pretty. Houko Kuwashima looked very tired.
Headquarters on entertainment business often think lives by performers promote their shows effectively. But when performers look tired, attendants will be disappointed.
Now we need the whole data of Nadesico.
TV-Tokyo abridged their Nedesico in the revival. Their plan was failed.
