Students select a college with the help of Kumi Kitagawa, the Heidelberg Student Advisor. Their choice depends on their intended major, the type of institution they want to attend, the area of the country they prefer, their financial situation, and other considerations.
Students are expected to write their own requests for catalogs using the word processing or Internet skills they've learned in the Computer Lab. When they receive applications, they receive help with the necessary forms for their visas and other pertinent documents. Only full-time Heidelberg students with acceptable attendance (80% or above) may receive this guidance. In addition, Upper Intermediate students may take a College Orientation course (see Content-Based Courses) taught by the Student Advisor.
It's a sad but exciting day for all when students finally leave for North America. To learn where students from the Heidelberg College Japan ESL Program have gone to college, see The Heidelberg Playground.
