The place is Florence - Italy, the heart and birthplace of western civilisation. The environment is immersed in history and culture, providing constant inspiration to the every day student's life, in a frame of excellence, all around. Florence's cultural surrounding is the ideal place to obtain one of the basic and important tools, paramount to the opera singer, and this is the knowledge and command of the Italian Language. Italian is the language of Music not because of natural or geographical selection, but because its vowels posess a natural placement and its rhythm has a constant "legato", a basic element of singing.
Furthermore, Florence is a jumping point to the rest of Italy as well as to the rest of Europe. The place provides all the indispensable elements and opportunities for the professional growth of the opera student and singer. After all, Florence is the birthplace of Opera.It is very important to note that (short notice) accommodation is difficult to find in Florence's Historical Center. For those students attending the Regular School as well as those attending the Summer Program, it is strongly recommended to confirm their attendance well in advance in order to secure a place in the program as to secure accommodation. It may prove very expensive to find a place at short notice. It is also strongly recommended to obtain medical insurance before arriving in Italy. Students coming to Florence to pursue regular studies (September 2 to May 15), need to request a student's visa from their nearest Italian Consulate. The School will provide with a letter of admission to comply with student's visa requirements.
