The Little Things

Firstly, I begin with wishing my Brother-in-law a Happy Birthday (6th October). Next, I let you know that my granny is being moved from hospital to rehabilitation today, YIPPEEE! Kittens are doing fine..and the weather is great.

Some little things have taken my notice...so I will share them with you here. I was watching Millenium, it was a 'blood thirsty' episode, where the main character was killing horses for sexual gratification until the thirst of blood became so much greater he went onto humans (it's more indepth than that...but children may be watching). A scene which really stood out in my mind was this... Frank Black (of the Millenium Group - deals with homocide etc) comes to investigate a series of horse deaths, after a women was attacked by the 'killer' (can't remember the name), after he'd just slain a her husband's horse. Getting to the point...Frank questions a veterenarian about the horses deaths, and she says to him something in the line of this...that 25 horses had to die, but when one women is attacked, the crime is then investigated. In short she was saying that the value placed on human life was far more greater than animal life. We know this to be true, yet for some reason, in this light (that of the movie) it seemed so cruel.
"Man is the cruelest animal"..-Nietszche
Human life should be valued over animal life...but so many times I have seen neglected animals and I wonder how their owners could possibly live with themselves for having no regard to keep their animal's healthy and cared for. This is a very touchy topic with me. I'm the type of person who can't even watch the BAMBI movie cartoon to completion, because when the mother deer got trapped in the fire....well lets just say..I spent the rest of the movie crying in the 'Ladies' room. It gets worse...Hubby went to pick up a video when we were babysitting...as usual I say "No animal movies". He comes back with "Milo and Otis". Despite having heard that it is a good movie, I made him take it back...I just can't watch animal movies...documentaries of animals I can watch no problem....but where animals are made to act, its very difficult for me to watch...I still haven't seen BABE. I want to see it and I think I might...but not yet.

I can't wait for this...I am going to the Opera in 2 weeks...I haven't been in sooooo long! I am looking foward to it...It's so strange how we know people for years and then you learn something new about them...and that happens to be the same thing they didn't know about you. I had no idea my friend likes Opera (albeit only ones with women singing), but neither did she know that I liked Opera. It just so happened that she works with the guy who will be in the Opera, he'd asked her to come and see it, yet she had no one to go with...until..I was at her place..I saw a cd (various Opera works) and exclaimed how much I loved Opera. So now we are going to the Opera together !

On the way home from her house, I was starting to whistle in the car parts of The Magic Flute, when all of a sudden, my hubby slammed on the brakes. Shocked, I stopped whisteling. He just looked at me with confusion and I asked what was going on...he said that when I whistled it had sounded like a police siren...he thought the police were chassing him (:->). That's the last time I try and whistle parts of The Magic Flute! Actually, I'm quite a good whistler..can carry a note quite well.

When I got home, I had taped a documentary on these men who abuse their wives. It followed the lives of two men. They were both in group counselling, one was seriously trying to come to terms with his demons, the other was making excuses about how the system is against him...etcetera....Of course this is simplified explination, as to go in depth would take to long...but it was interesting to watch the thoughts behind these people's actions. The excuses, the false dreams, the fear of being unloved, rejected...The emotions were raw, yet they all tried to put on a brave face. Hmmm...I think I will leave it here.

On a lighter note...My flyers for the business are ready to go out...Now I just need to find a distributor and I'm on the road.....Singing now.."Hit the road Jack...and don't you come back..." la- la-la!

There have been other little pieces...like spending Tuesday night with my parents..telling jokes over dinner.. Some were funny, others not, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.

Till next time...
Soosh :)
