Day 16: Tuesday October 22ndGhasa to Tatopani 1189m.Crossed another bridge to-day. Saw another landslide, the path had just fallen away. The path changes depending where the recent landslides have been. Met caravans of donkeys. More on this side of the pass. Enjoy the chatter and the singing of the guides. Pauline keeps forgetting her camera. Ram checks after we leave a place and picks up after us. They tease Pauline about it. They call her grandmother. Tatopani is one of the nicest towns on the route. Means hot water. Some of the towns up here are more progressive than on the other side of the pass. Hot shower next to our room on the second floor. A large room and we enjoy the space. Washed clothes and then went shopping in the town. I bought a bracelet [1000 rs} from a street vendor. Not such a good deal I think. I am not good at bargaining.
Another guide from Ram's village joined us for dinner. We shared a bottle of Chang and had some very interesting conversation with him. His English was very good and interesting to talk to. One of his clients was ill and he was going to go with him the easy way to Beni the next day. The rest of the group were going by Ghorepani which we were told was a very hard climb all day. Heard that Ramsey had to be evacuated by helicopter from Manang. Big decision. I wanted to go by way of Ghorepani and climb Poon hill. Pauline wanted to go by Beni the easy way. !!!
