 Review:
John
Landis (The Blues Brothers, Animal House) delivered this gem of a comedy
that I enjoyed as a youth and still enjoy today. I believe this is Eddie Murphy's
best film and Dan Aykroyd is exceptional as well. Randolph (Ralph Bellamy) and
Mortimer (Don Ameche) are cast perfectly as the amoral, despicable Dukes who wage
the bet that sets the story rolling. As one reviewer put it: "Trading
Places tackles the debate between which molds character: nature or nurture,
genetics or upbringing, yet never takes itself to seriously." Over-played
on cable television, this movie still ranks as one of my favorite comedies. -Review
