Top Tips | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Try A Little Spanish. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1. Taking a trip to the Water Park? If so its better too go towards the end of your holiday. Your body will have built up a better resistance to the sun and be less likely to burn. 2. Always use a sun cream. The temperature reaches into the 90’s and above regularly. Most people tend to think they can not get sunburnt when it’s overcast; this is a big mistake! If you do get burnt rub the area liberally with natural yoghurt and leave it on for at least 1hr. This will ease the burning sensation. Seek some medical advice. 3. Like the rest of the Canary Islands Tenerife is a tax-free zone. You can still claim your duty free allowance if you are travelling here. 4. Shops open from 9:00am until 1:00pm then 4:00pm until 8:00pm Monday to Friday. Unlike most big supermarkets which open all week from 10:00am until 9:00pm. To get a good look around the many shops; it is advised to go in the early evening. It’s much cooler at this time of day. 5. Banks are open from 8:30am until 2:00pm Monday to Friday and from 8:30am until 1:00pm on a Saturday. Some hotels and shops offer to exchange currency or traveller’s checks have a good look around to see which one offers the best rate. 6. Phoning the UK dial 00 44 then your area code minus the first zero followed by the number you wish to call. A three-minute call will cost you around 500 pts. 7. Ideal times for walking are early mornings or late afternoons this way you can avoid the heat of the mid-day sun. It is also advisable to take a bottle of water with you to avoid dehydration. 8. Local people cope with the tourist invasion extremely well. They are very welcoming and most have an ability to speak English. 9. Internet access is available at one of the many Internet cafes. You will pay around 500 pesetas for half an hour. 10. Do not drink the tap water while you are here. Buy bottled water; it's available in any of the shops or supermarkets. 11. Taxis will have a green light showing when they are free. It is advised to ask them how much before you get in. A typical journey from Playa De Las Americas to The outskirts of Costa Adeje will cost around 650 pesetas. |
