Sprinkle it with a thin layer of bread crumbs and cover it with a second sheet of dough. Brush it with butter and sprinkle it with another thin layer of bread crumbs. Toss together the apples, walnuts, sugar, cinnamon and remaining bread crumbs. Spread half the apple mixture on a the center of the dough, leaving a little space on each side. Roll the strudel with the help of the towel, staring at the long side nearest you. Tuck in the edges of the dough and place the strudel on a buttered baking sheet. Brush generously with butter. Repeat with remaining strudel dough. Bake the strudels in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes. Dust the strudels with sifted icing sugar and serve it warm or cold. |
