THE LUMBEE REQUEST RECOGNITION FROM THE UNITED STATES
When the founding fathers of the United States of America choose to separate themselves from the tyranny of unjust law they wrote the Declaration of Independence. This document serves as the foundation for the liberties that the people of the United States enjoy. Who gave the founding fathers the right to separate themselves from their former government? The founding fathers say that it is a God given right to seek self government. Has the Creator taken away from mankind the same right that he gave the Founding Fathers of the United States? The Lumbee Indians now seek recognition from the United States Government to be free to govern themselves as a separate and Sovereign Nation. The idea that a people must beg for what is rightfully theirs from a government formed on these very principles is inconceivably irrational. It is their God given right to separate themselves or to seek recognition as a Sovereign Nation. The act of the United States recognizing even one Indian as being Indian must also compel that same government to recognize all Indians whether full or part blood as Sovereign.
