Eastern grey kangaroo

The eastern grey kangaroo, Macropus giganteus (family Macropodidae), is common in central Cape York Peninsula woodlands. There are other kangaroos but this is the most common.

The eastern grey is a source of meat but Aboriginal people generally prefer to hunt the agile wallaby, Macropus agilis.
