CHAPLET OF THE DIVINE MERCY
Jesus asked Sister Faustina:
"Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet.
When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a
happy one."(Diary, 1541)."When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between
My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior."
(Diary, 1541). Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners
as their last hope of salvation. "Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet
only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy.
I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy (Diary, 687).
Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will"(Diary, 1731).
You can say it on ordinary rosary beads.
- 1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed.
- 2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following:Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
- 3. On the 10 Hail Mary Beads say the following:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades). - 4. Conclude with (three times):
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
The Hour of Mercy:
At three o'clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy... In this hour I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion. (Diary 1320).
As often as you hear the clock strike the third hour immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it, invoke it's omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners, for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world - mercy triumphed over justice.
Try your best to make the Stations of the Cross in this hour, provided that your duties permit it; and if you are not able to make the Stations of the Cross, then at least step into the chapel for a moment and adore, in the Most Blessed Sacrament. My Heart, which is full of mercy: and should you be unable to step into chapel. immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be, if only for a very brief instant. (Diary 1572)
The Chaplet of Mercy is a powerful prayer to say in atonement for sins.
Saint Faustina, apostle of the Divine Mercy, pray for us!
She was born on 25 August 1905 in the village of Glogowiec,to a poor and pious peasant family. Her parents were Marianna and Stanislaw Kowalski. She was baptized "Helena" and from a very tender age, she distinguished by her piety, love of prayer, obedience, and her love for the poor. She attended school for less than 3 years, and at the age of fourteen she left the family to help her parents and to earn her own livelihood, she worked as a domestic in the households of well to do families in Aleksandrów Lódzki, Lódz and Ostrówek in the Klembów county near Warsaw. On August 1 1925, a few weeks before her twentieth birthday, she was received as a postulant by the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Warsaw, and in 1926 she became a novice and adoptedthe name Maria Faustina. In 1928, she took her vows as a nun, and died just ten years later in the convent of the Congregation in Cracow-Lagiewniki on 5 October 1938. During the II World War, the fame of the sanctity of her life grew rapidly, as thanks to her mediation, people were able to obtain numerous graces. The informative process concerning the heroic quality of her life was carried out in Cracow in the years 1965-1967. It was at this time that her earthly remains had been transferred from the convent's cemetery to the chapel. In the year 1968 the Beatification Process of Sister Faustina was initiated in Rome. It was completed with the issuing of a Decree of Heroic Virtues of Sr. Faustina as well as a decree about a miracle which had been worked thanks to her mediation. On 18 April 1993 in St. Peter's Square in Rome the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, beatified this Polish nun. The relics of the St. Faustina rest upon the altar in the Sanctuary in Cracow-Lagiewniki, right under the miraculous image of Merciful Jesus. She was canonized in St. Peter's Square Rome by the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II on April 30, 2000 Mercy Sunday, was the first canonization of the Jubilee year and Pope John Paul II's formal announcement that the Sunday after Easter would be known as "Divine Mercy Sunday." The Lord Jesus chose St. Faustina as the Apostle and "Secretary" of His Mercy, so that she could tell the world about this great message: "In the Old Covenant I sent prophets wielding thunderbolts to My people. Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. I do not want to punish aching mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful HeartI use punishment when they themselves force Me to do so; My hand is reluctant to take hold of the sword of justice. Before the Day of Justice I am sending the Day of Mercy"(Diary, 1588)
To Saint Faustina, we owe the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. She received it from Jesus September 13,1935.
