Well, well... impossible keeping Dublin out of Barbarina's mind and heart... even though, I have to say, the capital city does not really exemplifies this incredible country. Ireland is my spiritual home. The first time I went there was 1994, and I immediately had this feeling nothing bad could happen to me on that green land, under that bright sky. I always wondered why the Irish sky was so famous in songs and ballads, and when I got there I got the point. This pale bright blue sky seemed higher and wider than any other sky I had looked at before, and at the same time I felt I could touch it by simply streching my hands. You would say you have to be lucky to enjoy Ireland under the sun, as it is always grey. But that's the point: the Irish sky is never grey: when the sun is not there, a shiny silver curtain falls on that green land. Everything around you is green and silver (which happen to be my two favourite colours, and remind me of the tuscan olive leaves). The clouds embrace you warmly, even when it's cold, the rain touches you gently, even when is heavy. People talk to strangers and smile, even when they are sad. The "dark thick stuff" you drink runs through your throat like fresh spring water and warmes your heart. I am not surprised so many people believe in God there. And in the fairies. |

This is one of the most beautiful spot in the island. They said it was so charming that couldn't be called other than Ladies' View ;) But the place I will never forget (which gave me my life back when I thought I was going to lose my mind) is a small fishermen village in the far west: Dingle. Unfortunately I had no digicamera with me then, but I have found a fantastic online photogallery with many shots I took myself on film!! Amazing... it was like looking at my album!!! |
