This site was created for the people who do not believe in the discrimination and are concerned for the wealth and safety of children and youth.The juvenile justice system, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) abuse and maltreat youth while they are in "safekeeping." Negligence and discrimination is deliberately open towards Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgendered (LGBT) youth.The legislative system has a totally "heterocentric" environment, where LGBT youth are subjected to survive under the vilest bigotry. Report of Urban Justice in the city of New York: "LGBT youth constitutes anywhere from four percent to ten percent in the juvenile justice system." It is important to comment that LGBT youth receives placement more often by committing "survival crimes," where there was no violence against the society in the nature of the committed crime. Report of Urban Justice: "Evidence that LGBT youth are being systematically abused or neglected is sufficient to warrant change, whether affecting ten youth or ten thousand." Unfortunately discrimination is not limited to LGBT youth, however, LGBT youth are the most suffered due to the deficiency of the acknowledge of lawyers and policy makers. Its important to remark that Mental Health recommendations are not necessarily implemented by OCFS, indeed a psychologist will recommend treatment to respond to the need of a kid, however it will be up to the discretion of the administrative staff to accept such recommendation. Despite this, there are psychologist and/or mental health nurses who lacks expertise in working with LGBT youth, and will only promote more discrimination, blaming LGBT youth as manipulators.
