A friend joins me in Phoenix for several days and we repeatedly call on a local cabbie to drive us about. Between code-encrypted radio conversations with her co-worker/boyfriend, our cabbie friend confides in us that the taxi company is mismanaged and that her relationship is waning. Griffin and I visit Sedona where we go for a run in an area known by some to be a vortex of earthly energy. I shop for crystals and then we head to Tempe to run with a hashing club. In the backwards manner of the hash, I am charged with setting the course for the run even though I have never been to the town. As I wait for a friend to arrive in Santa Fe, I receive a call from the New Mexico State Police. My friend has been in an auto accident. She is not hurt but her car is totaled. I pick her up in The Chief and return to Santa Fe where we enjoyed the local scenery, arts and food. Planning to be home for the holidays, I head east. On our way to Florida, we visit a first-rate dogpark in Austin and I show Griffin around the French Quarter in New Orleans. |
