Goldfront Sprite Damselfly - Pseudagrion aureofrons

FAMILY COENAGRIONIDAE

This page contains information and pictures about Goldfront Sprite Damselflies that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

Male, body length 36mm

Goldfront Sprite Damselflies can be found on running water or still water. They usually fly very close on the surface of water, sometimes they rest on the floating materials.

They may not be as abundant as the Blue Sprite Damselflies, but they are easily recognized by their golden-yellow faces and thorax. They can be found cruising on the water surface on a sunny summer day along Bulimba creek.

The male Goldfront Sprite Damselflies are with bright golden yellow face and thorax. Their lower part of thorax are blue, with black colour in between. Their abdomen are black, with blue marking at tail.
