Things to Bring to Camp

1. Clothes – Scout should have extra clothes during the camping time. Be preparing for hot & cold weather. Layer system preferred.
2. Change to new underwear & cloth before you go into sleeping bag. The moisture inside the cloth will make you feel cold.
3. Wind breaker jacket – Must be light weight and can withstand small rain shower
4. Hat & Sunblock – To prevent sun-burn and insect bite
5. Socks – Scouts has to change socks every day.
6. Personal items – Toothbrush, toothpaste etc. No bathroom available for taking bath unless in most cases.
7. Scout book is essential.
8. Water – Bring enough water. Each scout needs at least 1 Gallon of drinking water per day and more for cooking. Bring at least two small bottles for ease of drinking (needs at least two just in case one break)
9. Stove & cooking gears – Bring it if you have one. If you still don’t have it, scout can use the troop stove.
10. Mess kit – Scout must have Spoon and/or fork, non-breakable cup and/or outdoor eating plate that they can eat with.
11. Personal first aid kit – Although troop has a troop first aid box, each scout is required to bring his own first aid kit for minor issue.
12. Tent & Tarp – Tent is needed unless you will be sleeping under the stars. However, if you do not have tent yet, please either contact your fellow scouts to see if you can share the tent, or you can use our troop tents (please reserve it). We have 2 troop tents that can house about 7 scouts. Tarp is good to have so your tent can be properly insulated (and kept clean).
13. Sleeping Bag – Each scout need its own sleeping bag. Remember that mummy bag type is preferred, better to be less than 5 lb.
14. Ground pad – Is recommended for a good night sleep (it goes between your sleeping bag and tent floor).
15. Watch – Time is essence. Scout should wear watch to know the time.
16. Food – Unless your patrol has organized a patrol cooking and food have been arranged, you should bring you own food. Oak meal, Breakfast bar, Bread, etc. are good for breakfast, can foods, noodles, etc. are good for lunch and dinner. Foods that can be prepared easily are preferred. If you are bringing perishable food, a small cooler with ice will be handy to keep the foods fresh (for tail gating camp only). If you are cooking vegetable, we suggest carrot, radish, onion, cucumber, potato, etc. which are solid and will not spoil easily. Trail mix with nuts and dried fruits is good as well as the beef jerky type food.

18. Can Opener if you bring can food; Bags of Chocolate Mix or Apple cider is good for warm drink; Apple, Orange, or solid fruits are good food to have too.
19. Insect repellent – A good thing to have during summer time.
20. Rain gear or poncho is essential.
21. Compass is essential for any outing.
22. Ziploc bag  - Cloth should be pack inside the Ziploc bag to protect it from rain. It can also be used for things that smell.
23. Garbage bag – It comes in handy during camp out. Large bag can also be used to cover backpack if it rains.
24. Binoculars – Scout will find it useful but not a necessary item.
25. Backpack – It is good to have backpack but regular handbag will do the job if it is a tailgating camp.
26. Toilet paper – essential, bring it.
27. Pocket Knife – Scout need to get trained first. You have to have Totem chip card before you can carry the pocket knife.
28. NO ELECTRONIC GEARS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CAMP (e.g. Nintendo DS, Radio, PSP, Cell phone)
