On the first day of the new season Castlegate produced a solid display but were made to sweat by the team who's name I dont remember. CFC strolled into an early lead with a well worked goal and the in-form Anderson finished it well. They were soon two up thanks to a goal from debutant Anthony Armstrong, his strong play and excellent movement proved to be decisive. By half time CFC were 5-1 up and the players only had one thing on their mind, how many they would end up scoring. Castlegate started brightly but were unable to find a way past the larger than life goalkeeper. Oliver then made a schoolboy error after having a fine game. He threw the ball out and it was deemed to have been thrown over arm which is against the rules resulting in a penalty. Oliver superbly saved the penalty but it came at a cost. Despite finishing the game it was later found out that Oliver damaged his shoulder saving the penalty and will be out for atleast a month according to the doctors. Oliver also got involved in a small scuffle with one of the opposing teams player and somehow Oliver was not sent off but the other player involved was. It seemed to rattle CFC and it was soon 5-4 to Castlegate after a 3 goal glut. Crinnion had already secured an impressive hat-trick before he set up Armstrong for his second to cap off an impressive debut and finish the game at 6-4.
