Found someone good, the right thing for fans of
Patricia Cornwell and Kay Scarpetta. Her name is Kathy Reichs and so far she seems to have published 3 books, of which I read “Death du jour” and “Deadly decision”. The hero, Tempe Brennan, is a forensic anthropologist. Hence lots of bones and murders that involve all sorts of decomposed, decapitated and otherwise incomplete bodies. Well written, I liked Tempe a lot and there is just the right amount of humour in it. I will tackle “Deja dead” soon, which is the first in the series, by the way….

Also just finished “The Lion’s Game” by
Nelson DeMille. First time I read one of his books. Good cop-story. Chauvinistic, sexist, anarchistic ex-cop saves the day and gets the girl. Good fun, now I just have to get the prequel, “Plum Island”.

Oh, and I saw “Lord of the rings” over the holidays. Really good, I especially liked Ian McKellen as Gandalf. Now I finally have to read that book. Should I only read part one and then wait till next Christmas for the second movie???

Getting through “The Green Mile” pretty quick. I like it. Very similar to the movie. Or, let’s say, the movie was very close to the book. I am coming up to the execution of Delacroix. Very interested to see how that will differ from the movie….

Anyway, off to Germany on Saturday, will tell you all about my holiday-reading when I'm back in two weeks....

Johannes K. Soyener
, “Teeclipper” – read the German original, no idea if it has been translated into English yet or ever will be. Good read! Adventure novel at its best. Whisky smugglers in the Scottish highlands, sailing the 7 seas, slave trade, opium trade, tea clippers and clipper races and and and. Very good, enjoyed it a lot.

Started
Stephen King now, “The Green Mile”. I absolutely love his books. Funny, the first 2 books I read from him I hated with a vengeance. Perhaps I was too young to get them. Now I like the way he describes things, his characterizations, his swearing, his sense of humour….
