My name is Tove Olsen, and I got my first sheltie in 1991. Before that I had a german sheperd bitch called Mira. She was born in 1984, and died much to soon because of her many illnesses. For 4 months I had no dogs - and then Charmie came. Life hasn't been the same since then!

"A sheltie is like chips" they say - "you can't have only one!" And that is quite true. When Charmie was one year old - Boogie came in to our house, and Charmie became "instant mother"! Charmie also got the chance to become mother to 3 litters, and in the first litter (born in 1996) we kept her son Tino. He just didn't want to be sold to anyone - he wanted to stay with us. And we're glad! Tino is very special, not only because of his colour (black and white), but because he shows to all of the world which persons he loves the most. From that guy you get unconditional love to the very few chosen ones.
Unfortunately Boogie got cancer when she was nearly 7 years old, and there were nothing the vet's could do. She died on the operating-table September 1999. That was a very sad day! But the world is a strange place to live in: Boogie went in season a week before she died, and Charmie followed a week after Boogie had passed away. This was the last time Charmie was to be mated, and I guess it was the dogs way of saying that "life goes on". I mated her with a black and white dog and was hoping to get a nice black and white bitch that could stay with us after Boogie, but that wish didn't come true.

Instead a little sable twister called Sandie came into our house, and she has made the world turn upside down with her great joy and activity!

But after joy comes sadness again, and on January 12th 2003 I went the long and hard way to the Vet's office together with Charmie. A lot of reasons made me take the decission to put her to sleep after a long, happy life. But I can picture her in my mind running around on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, tail happily wagging against Boogie and my beloved father. Charmie was very depressed when my father passed away in June 2001 - they were "soulmates" in life, and I'm quite sure that they have found eachother "on the other side". I miss them both very much.

A new whirlwind came to stay with me just in time for Christmas 2004 - Donna, my new tricolour bitch. She is tiny but tough, and very quick became the leader of my little pack :-)

After 12 years of joy and happiness, my very special black and white boy sadly had to leave me in February 2008. Because of his special colour he has given me new friends worldwide, and for that I will forever be thankful. Rest in Peace little-boy!

February 2008:
Today my little pack of shelties consists of two bitches - Sandie and Donna, and I also own or co-own 1 dog - Taco, and 1 bitch - Penny, which live with others.

All of the dogs are trained in basic-obidience. I usually also go to a course in agility with them, so that they get a little different activity.
