| Clover is My Beagle. She is going to be 9 years old as of Jan. 26th 2008. She weighs about 35-40 pounds. Time has flown by with her. I got her when I worked at Bide-a-wee (non-kill animal adoption center) Her Mother, A Beagle that was abandon in an alley way in Queens, with 6 puppies just born. Was brought in to the shelter. They Puppies had their eyes shut and umbilical cord still attached. The Mother Dog, that we nick named "B" (for Beagle, so original) was a sweet and Gentle Beagle. I was hoping to be able to adopt her, but when I asked, she was already promised to someone else. SO I figured the next best thing would be one of her puppies!.. Little did I know what I was in for.... I picked out the puppy I liked best. A cute little tri-color Beagle, she had a dark charcoal gray color with white and light brown. |
| Well when we got her home he personality changed, from Dr. Jeckle to Mr. Hyde!! She was the most unusual Nasty little puppy ever! Not a normal puppy. She would growl and BITE (and I don't mean teething "nipping") She would bite and draw blood. She didn't liked to be touched or pet in any way. She was a BiG handful. She was 8 weeks old when I brought her home. And I saw her very often while she was still at the shelter.. so she was NOT abused or neglected. She just had a nasty attitude, and wanted to be the boss. BUT Lucky me.. I am very stubborn too (Beagles are known for being one of the most stubborn of all breeds) So with Alot of help from My Mother, We trained her to Love! What I call touch training. We taught her to like to be pet and rubbed and kissed, As in the past when she was a pup, I went to kiss her once, she chomped down on my lip.. and it bled! We had to force her to accept to being held and loved. When I brought her to the vet (as a small puppy) she needed her ears checked. Well she did not want that.. it took 3 adults and a muzzle on her to just look in her ear.. she was like a worm with sharp teeth!! But with lots of patience and love and UNDERSTANDING for her.. she came around BIG time.. and has become one of the most Affectionate Dogs I have ever known. She now LOVES to be touched and pet and rubbed ALL OVER!! She does what I call is "Love Attacks" Out of no where she will jump up on you and Kiss and Lick you ALL over!!! My Sweet Baby Clover!! |
