more cave pics...
Here's a pic of Don at the entrance to Lemon Hole.  This shows the typical small entrance size to Pennsylvania caves.  They are usually tight fissures like this one, or small holes like the pic on the previous page of Shawn and Don  in front of Barton's Cave.

Here I am ascending the entrance at Lemon Hole.  The entrance has a small outcropping of rock that Don is seen standing on in the pic above.  Step off that ledge, and you better be rigged to a rope!  lol.

Here's one of my favorite pics...  This is my daughter, many moons ago, at the tender and impressionable age of 5 in the back of Barton's Cave.  Besides a walk through tour of a commercial tourist cave, this was her first "real" caving experience.  We duct taped a caving lamp to her bike helmet, but her head was so small, that the weight of the light kept making the helmet fall down over her eyes.  We solved the problem by stuffing all of her hair into a tossle cap, and then putting the helmet over that.  Fashionable AND functional!
All helmet problems aside, getting her INSIDE the cave proved difficult as well.  I guess she had been expecting a big walk in entrance, perhaps with a gift shop and tour guides like her last cave experience.  when she saw the little hole outside the cave she shouted "I'm not going in THERE!"  Once I coaxed her inside, she did wind up enjoying the experience... though apparently, not enough to ever do it again!  lol
Here's a nice little spot in the back of Lemon Hole...  and I DO mean little.  The room through that hole is decorated with thousands of soda straw formations.  They have survived in their pristine condition precicely because no one could fit through the hole to get into that room.
