Romance...

Infatuation | Fate | Love

...only God knows how much I love it. You may think my life revolves too much on that subject, but that's what I am! Like I always say, hopeless romantics, hear my call, "Ahhhhh!" Now you're probably looking at me wondering, what exactly is romance? Hmm...let's think, shall we? Could it be the exquisite candlelit dinner your boyfriend planned two weeks in advance? Perhaps it's the lovely roses that he sent to you while you were working at the office. Wait! Could it be that anonymous gift your secret admirer placed on your front door step? Surely, this is absolutely romantic, and yes, actions do truly define, but does it explain what romance is? I see that this does require some thought after all.

There are many aspects of romance. Literally, we can say that the romantic is a dreamer. Being that I have an enormous imaginative outlook on many things, I consider myself a dreamer as well. I like to laugh and cry, but at the same time, make others feel loved as well as love myself. A romantic is the lover or the object of desire. As my aunt once said, "What is unattainable becomes very desireable." Make sense? Think of it this way: Playing hard-to-get. In other senses, such as music, the composer plays the role as the romantic. Why? He shows his love by expressing it through the music being performed. Romance between individuals is a bit different. Here is the problem: Many confuse romance with love, which is understandable since romance is but one aspect of love, yet romance can exist without love. So then, many wonder, what is love?

Well...

Because love is not just a single emotion, it is one of the two most powerful and complex emotions any human being can possibly experience. Indeed, love is the collective of positive emotions that humans are able to express.

Generosity is like a bearing fruit of love that implies both benevolence and giving. To give someone a gift with no expectation of receiving anything in return is a special type of generosity. We call this: Sacrifice. In Greek, they say "agape"...remember the sacrificial love of Christ when He died for us.

"My love is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep;
the more I give to thee, the more I have,
for both are infinite."
Shakespeare's Romeo to Juliet.
Another "fruit" -- or so I'd like to call it -- of love is truth. Truth is sincerity and dedication, implying honesty and devotion. The ultimate truth in love would be honor. Can you understand where I am getting at now?

Tenderness is another aspect of love. It expresses kindness to others allowing us to forgive ourselves for our own fallacies. To be able to do all these things without regret and sacrifice our pride for others, shows compassion. Again, in Greek, they say, "Phileo"...from the word, "Philanthropy," it means love for family and friends.

Love is something special when you have a serious relationship with someone you really care about. Love for teenagers, such as myself, is something like having your boyfriend send you a get well card and kisses you when your sick or gives you a nice teddy bear just to be sweet. But we don't really know what love is...many teenagers say they know what love is, yet they have never been in love before. How can they say how it feels or what it is?
