Dad was born on Monday November 12, 1928 and passed away on April 13, 2000. He was 71 years, 5 months, and 1 day old. This year November 12, 2000 Dad would have been 72 years old. Dad also has a twin sister Ora "Irene" Bennett who is celebrating her 72nd birthday today without her dear brother. On Dad's 70th birthday he told me he was going to live to be 100, and I believed him. I had no reason to believe that in a little over a year and a half he would be gone.

Dad lived for life and he lived each and every day to the fullest. He never fussed over presents, and he was just as happy with a homemade coconut cake. He had no need for material things. The air in his lungs and the sun on his face was gift enough, however a good garage sale also made up for any bad day he was having. This will be the first birthday without Dad and I know it will be hard. We will have to place flowers on his grave instead of celebrating over cake and ice cream. I know in time it will get easier, but it takes all my strenght to just get by without him. So hold those loved ones tight and treasure each moment with them. I will always treasure my memories of Dad. I know the memories will always be there and no one can take them from me.

On Dad's 71st birthday, we gave him a surprise birthday. He was so happy. All his children were there and almost all of the grandkids too. It was a very memorable day that we will all treasure. We are all so glad that we were there with him on his last birthday while he was still so full of life. I am so glad that he was able to spend it with all of us. I made this page to help forever keep his memory alive. I never want to forget him on any of the holidays or birthdays that we would celebrate with him if he still was here.
