Stalker Castle Castles Next

Stalker Castle is an imposing stone keep located on a small island in Loch Linnhe along the western coast of Scotland.  I discovered the castle quite by accident in 1991 while visitng Scotland for the first time.   My wife and I were checking out of a Bed and Breakfast hotel at Spean Bridge, when I noticed a postcard of the castle in a tourist display.  I immediatlely recognized the castle as the same one used for the closing scene of the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Being a devout fan of Monty Python, I decided to visit the castle if at all possible.  Fortunately, the castle was only half an hour away, so we drove along Loch Linnhe until we found it.  The castle was not accessible by land so we made it as far as the shores of the Loch.  In 1998 we visited the castle a second time when were on vacation with my son Douglas and my mother Reene. Unfortunately, the castle is open to the public by appointment only.  The picture below was taken during our second visit in 1998.

I think I can see King Arthur and sir Bedevere at the base of the keep...
