| Weeds The abundance of vast weedbeds in most of Fish Bay and portions of Hunter's bay will require some adjustments on the part of the angler to avoid fouling their lures or bait with weeds on each cast. Generally, you have to fish lures that are weedless or run shallow above the weeds to have the best success. You also need to learn and recognize the types of weeds that you are fishing as certain species of fish prefer a given type of weeds. The best example of this would be pike which prefer cabbage weed, a broad-leafed weed that grows in water depths of up to 10 feet. Generally, if you find a patch of cabbage weed, there will be pike in it or nearby.
